Isn’t it interesting how much footwear trends can change in the space of a year? This time last year it was still pretty unusual to find a shoe that didn’t have a gigantic platform attached to it: this year, however, while the platform has far from died out, they’ve become less of the “norm”, and can look even clumpier than they used to when compared to all of the much daintier shoes which tend to surround them.
Even so, every now and then, a platform shoe will come along that still has the power to make me love it, and these Zara slingbacks are one such shoe. I think it’s the simplicity that makes these shoes work for me: yes, they have that very pretty, jewelled detail on the strap, but other than that, they’ve stuck to a bold shape and a simple, black and gold colour combination to make them stand out. And all of that’s without even mentioning the gorgeous, curvy sides: that particular detail gets me every time!
