Ravel ‘Jolly’ nautical stripe wedges

Ravel 'Jolly' stripe wedges

Where were all these canvas wedges a couple of years ago, that’s what I want to know? I can’t seem to turn around right now without stumbling across a pair that are absolutely perfect, but a couple of years ago, when I was desperately trying to replace my trusty old red pair, they were nowhere to be found.

(I still have those old red wedges, by the way. I didn’t include them in this year’s Shoe Challenge, but I couldn’t bring myself to throw them away, either. It would be like throwing away an old friend…)

These ones by Ravel aren’t quite perfect. I’m not quite sure how I feel about that double-layered heel, for instance, which combines raffia on the top with a stripe rubber on the bottom. I think I might have preferred these if they’d gone for one or the other, but still, at least the rubber bottom will be much harder wearing than the raffia, and will hopefully make these last a bit longer. That’s a very good thing in this case, because at £60, these shoes are a little more expensive than some of the other canvas/fabric wedges I’ve been showing you lately.

These are available at Spartoo: what do you think of them?
