Premiata grey toecap ankle boots

Premiata grey toecap ankle boots, £263.40

I’ve had these shoes on my “to be blogged about” list for a while now, but with the temperature dipping back into the minus figures this month, I figured now was as good a time as any to show you a pair of stylish ankle boots.

Premiata is a brand I wasn’t actually familiar with, but if these boots are representative of their style, I think I can safely say you’ll probably be seeing a lot more of them now they’re on my radar. There are a few different reasons for this: the toe cap style is an obvious one, and I’ve written at length about my love for the trend-that-isn’t-really-a-trend (because it’s the kind of look that never goes out of style), but that doesn’t seem to stop me finding new variations of it to love. These boots also make use of another technique I really love, which is using two shades of the same colour in one shoe: grey and silver. I do this a lot with my outfits, putting together looks comprised of just one colour, but a couple of different shades, and I like it because it’s such an easy way to dress, but can have a lot of impact, as these boots do.

Finally, there’s the shape of these. Because ankle boots are (obviously) short, they can be somewhat tricky to get right: if they’re too chunky/wide they can end up looking like hooves, and also interfering with the hem of any pairs of trousers you happen to wear with them. For that reason, I like to seek out styles which are streamlined and fairly narrow, as opposed to chunkier styles: I think they look much more elegant, and that’s definitely a word I’d use to describe these!

  • The shape is lovely but I have decided, upon seeing these shoes, that I do not like grey shoes at all. It’s such a dull colour.
