It’s not often I see someone wearing sneakers and think, “Yup: I want to copy her entire outfit, STAT!”
As soon as I saw this look on Barbora Ondrackova, though, I was pretty much sold on the whole “sneakers with a dress” look. And yes, I want to copy her entire outfit: even although I have absolutely no hope whatsoever of pulling it off.
The key to wearing sneakers with a dress? It’s all in the details. This outfit, for instance, is a clever blend of casual and smart: the stretch dress, when worn with sneakers, has an almost sporty look to it, but the structured bag and blazer are anything but. It sounds like it shouldn’t work, but it absolutely does – and the fact that Barbora has kept to an all-black colour palette (with the exception of the sneakers) really helps pull the look together, and make it instantly more sophisticated.
This outfit is also a really great example of how a high-end or statement accessory can really elevate an outfit: that YSL handbag is the perfect finishing touch here, but if your budget won’t stretch quite that far, here are some lower-priced options, to help you recreate the look on a budget:
