I’m forever hearing shorter women proclaim that they can’t wear midi skirts, but at just under 5″4, I beg to differ. It’s true that midi skirts can make your legs look shorter, and if you’re short already, that may be the last thing you want. The trick, however, is all in the tailoring, and it all comes down to proportions: if you’re short, you need a slightly shorter skirt than a taller person would wear – it’s as simple as that! What that means, is either seeking out midi skirts in the “petite” section (ASOS have a great selection of petite midi skirts…),buying skirts that aren’t tradional midis at all (skirts designed to be knee-length on someone of average height, for instance, will be longer on a petite person: remember, your skirt doesn’t have to end at the calf in order to create the same basic look as a regular midi skirt!), or having your skirt tailored.

It can also simply be a matter of giving it a go, and not just assuming you won’t be able to wear a midi skirt if you’re short: you never know, it just might work!
