I know this will come as a shock to those who know me – and know me as a hardened stiletto wearer – but lately I’ve discovered a new appreciation for ballet flats. Don’t worry: I don’t think I’ll ever give up my heels completely, but flats can be nice for a bit of a change, and they do appeal to my love of simple, but classic styles.

What will come as less of a shock to you all will be my continuing love of pastels. They’ve been a summer staple, both in the form of shoes and of clothes, and I really like the idea of carrying them on into Autumn, which is one of the reasons these little H&M flats appealed to me. The other reason, of course, is the shiny toecap and cute little bow, which combine here to create a very classic look, while the pastel colours add a touch of frivolity.
