YAY or NAY? Jeffrey Campbell ‘Grandame’ Suede Bow Pumps

Jeffrey Campbell 'Grandame' Suede Bow Pumps

I’m a big fan of bows on shoes, and I normally take an approach I’d loosely characterize as “the bigger the better” – I think oversized bows will always have a place in my heart!

Will they always have a place on my feet, though? Well, I’m not sure. As much as I love to look at that kind of style, I’ve noticed over the years that they can be a little bit tricky to actually style: basically any kind of over-sized embellishment will tend to make the eye go straight to your feet, which can be a good thing or a bad one, depending on how you look at it. As for these specific shoes, meanwhile, I just can’t imagine how I’d actually wear then without tripping over the giant bow – and even if, by some miracle, I did manage not to injure myself, the thought of that lovely suede dragging along the dirty street would probably make me want to keep them safe at home, anyway!

These are by Jeffrey Campbell, and are available at Nasty Gal, where they’re currently reduced to £78 in the sale. Oh, and they’re also available in black, which might be a little more practical – although, then again…

What do you think of them? Yay or Nay?

  • Nay. The bows are so big they kind of look like a hound dog. If they were full but didn’t drag on the ground it would be a different story.

  • Wearing any kind of mopping fixtures as footwear applique’ that readily collects all manner of soiled elements while walking as ornaments of health and beauty doesn’t leave me feeling particularly comfortable to be the presenter, not to mention the wearer.

  • Uh, yah! I’d rock those (as long as there isn’t inclement weather and a lot of walking involved…might put them on inside the venue).
