The Shoes | Christian Louboutin Cabo 120 embellished leather pumps, £495
Has anyone else noticed how much black there is in the current Christian Louboutin collection?
It’s not JUST black shoes, obviously: there are plenty of brighter colours in there too. As I scroll through the official site, however, (or the Louboutin page at Net-a-Porter), however, it’s the plain black pumps that jump out at me. (or perhaps I should say the NOT-so-plain black pumps: this IS Christian Louboutin we’re talking about, after all – there’s no such thing as an “ordinary” shoe where this designer is concerned!) I had intended to show you something different today – I’m aware that the last few Friday Fix posts have featured black pumps, after all – but then I saw Cabo 120. Can you really blame me for wanting to go back to black for these shoes?
The basic shape of these will be familiar to Louboutin fans. That curvy, low-cut side and sharply pointed toe is very ‘So Kate‘, and is all the proof you need of my “no such thing as an ordinary shoe” statement above. It’s just knockout, isn’t it? It would be amazing enough in plain black (or any other colour, for that matter), but ‘Cabo’ ups the ante with that sprinkling of multicolured gemstones on the toe. Those embellishments sit on top of a contrasting suede section, and there’s just enough of them to be interesting, and to jazz up the basic black upper, without being tacking, or over-the-top.
Still think black shoes are boring?
I would never say that black shoes are boring. Especially not these!
