Oasis floral dress

Oasis floral dress, £60

I ave something of a love/hate with Oasis and their dresses. I almost always love them – often a lot, as it happens – right up until the moment I start clicking through the images to get to the one of the dress on a model, and realise that it’s a whole lot shorter than I’d assumed it to be from the original photo. I can’t really complain too much about this, because luckily there are tons of longer-length dresses in other stores at the moment, but it’s always a little disappointing to find something that looks perfect, but turns out to be way too short.

That was partly the case with this Oasis floral dress. At first glance, I figured it was around knee-length, which would be perfect, but it’s a couple  inches above the knee on the model, so not terribly short, but certainly a little shorter than I’d like, especially in a very fitted dress. I’m still showing you it, though, because I love everything else about it (and also because not everyone shares my love of longer hems!): the nipped-in waist and sweetheart neckline are just adorable, and the floral print uses a great mix of colours. Those spaghetti straps are also detachable, so if you’d rather go for something strapless, you can easily make it so.

How would you style this dress?

Because of the length and fit, my instinct was to pair this with flats sandals, to create a casual(ish) summer look, but then I came across these orange Charlotte Olympia sandals, which seemed almost made for it:

OK, so the flat sandals would definitely have made it a little more casual, but I don’t think they’d have been quite as pretty as these ones, somehow!
