ASOS ‘Producer’ lemon yellow high heels, £35
I love lemon. Quite a bit, actually. Although the shade – like all of its fellow pastels – is fairly well represented in the spring/summer clothing collections, however, it’s still not that common in footwear, which is one of the reasons I was drawn to these ‘Producer’ heels by ASOS.
These have a pointed toe and leather-effect upper, but the real selling point here is the silver heel, which works really well with the yellow, and helps turn an ordinary pump into something a bit more special. The overall shape of the shoe also has that effect: that backless, ankle-strap design really brings the shoe up to date, giving a nice, contemporary twist to the classic pump. At just £35, you can guess that these shoes aren’t real leather, but I was pleased with the quality of the last pair of ASOS pumps I bought, so I have high hopes of these, too.
What to wear with lemon shoes?
I was tempted to style these with mint green, in true “daffodil” fashion, but instead I’ve gone for some pretty spring florals:
What to wear with lemon shoes:
skirt // top // earrings // bag // nail polish
Co-ordinating separates are a big trend this season, and I have to say, I love ’em. Worn together, this skirt and top combo will look just like a dress; unlike a dress, however, you’ll also be able to wear each of the two items with other things (I think the top would look great with jeans, and the skirt with a slouchy sweater, for a more casual look), making them much more versatile. The shoes, meanwhile, pick up the yellow in the skirt, but will work well with block colours, too. Another option I really like is an all-white outfit, for instance, with white tailored trousers and a matching sweater or top, with the shoes adding just a hint of colour.
They look very beige to me. Must be the colour calibration on my monitor. And I don’t know how I feel about that ankle strap.
