The shape of this boot isn’t new: I wrote about Alexander McQueen’s Pelle’ ankle boots back in May 2009, and the basic shape hasn’t changed since then. What is different, however, is the bronze stitching and hardware, and, of course, those embroidered wings on the side. I’m a bit of a sucker for wings on shoes, and I love these: I also have to admit that I’m slowly coming around to the idea of the peep-toe boot, perhaps because there are just so many of them around now that I’m tempted to think that sooner or later I’ll have to just give in and accept their existence. I still think that almost every peep toe boot I’ve ever seen would look better without the peep toe, although on these ones it does seem to work.
What do you think of them? They’re £705 at Net-a-Porter – click here to buy them.
I loved these boots – because of the wings! But, just like you said – without the peep toe… would have been much better – at least for me!
I just have to agree with Denise, I would’ve loved these, were it not for the peeptoe. I just don’t get it. If the weather’s nice enough to wear peeptoes, why wear boots with them??
I know how you feel about peep toe boots. I feel like I’m becoming desensitized. There are too many and I am but one shoe shopper!
I think the peep-toe works on these because it looks like they unzip pretty far in the front, which might give them the effect of being more shoe (with a large “collar”)than boot?
No! you can’t give in to the peeptoe boot! I admit, these ones are slightly better than most, but I agree with Karen, I think it’s the fact its unzipped so far in the front.
I think the wings make them look like something you’d wear if you were joining a motorcycle gang.
No! I will not be sucked into the peep-toe boot vortex!
I want to get my hands on a pair of those right now!
