I’ve never been particularly fond of the word “fierce” as used to describe shoes, but in this case I think it’s the only word to use, because these? Are fierce.
Taking the sharp, studded look, and wrapping it all the way around the sole of the shoe, DSquared have certainly made sure that anyone who gets in your way while you’re wearing these will live to regret it: step on someone’s toe in these and you’ll run the risk of doing a fair bit of damage. Actually, in MY case, I’d probably ALSO do a fair bit of damage to my house, my legs, anything else I happened to be wearing at the time… you get the picture. That’s not the ONLY reason I won’t be buying these (there’s the small matter of them costing $1,291 to consider, plus the fact that they don’t look like they’re worth anything like that much), but if they’re exactly what you’ve been waiting for all your life, you can buy a pair from the DSquared2 online shop.
Just when you thought I couldn’t possibly come up with another nautical-themed shoe, along comes Dsquared2 with these cute little peep toes in navy and red.
I love these shoes (is anyone surprised by this admission?), not just for the colours, and the rope detail on the toe and slingback, but because they’re the perfect mix of casual and dressy, and would therefore make a versatile addition to a summer wardrobe or suitcase. I guess I know what I’M hoping Topshop/New Look/Matalan/whoever decide to take inspiration from this season, hmm?
If you’d like to take inspiration from them too, they’re £584 at Far Fetch.
I tend to associate Dsquared2 with some of the more “out there” styles of footwear, but these black and gold beauties: well, they’re just absolutely gorgeous, and very elegant into the bargain. I love the black and gold mix, the slight vintage feel, and the slender, gold heel. These are glamorous and sophisticated, but not too over the top. Amazingly, they’re also on sale, down to £185 at Yoox, although sadly only available now in UK sizes 4 and 6. I’m going to pretend I didn’t notice that size 4 just happens to be MY size…
Without the peep toe, I’d have really liked these shoes. With it… well, actually, with it I STILL really like them. I’m not quite sure why, because they’re not my usual style, but there’s something a bit “sexy schoolmistress” about them, and I think they’d be perfect with a pencil skirt, and maybe some thick tights, too. These would also work well with skinny jeans, and they’re £659 from Far Fetch.
For those who like their shoes (and their fashion shows) to come with a great big dollop of drama, DSquared2′s runway shows are always a lot of fun. Check out the studded platform sandals above, for instance: even I wouldn’t necessarily fancy walking too far in them, but they’re great to look at, as are the bright yellow ankle boots you’ll find under the jump:
