Office ‘Giggle’black patent kitten heels, £40
Most of the time when I write about kitten heels, I start off by acknowledging that they’re not exactly “fashionable”, that lots of people hate them, and so-on-and-so-forth. These days, however, I feel footwear fashion has entered something of an “anything goes” stage: if Birkenstocks can be considered “stylish”, then I’m pretty sure kitten heels can be too, and while I know some of you will never come around to this style, I actually really like these black patent slingbacks from Office.
These are, after all, about as classic as it gets, aren’t they? I can totally imagine Audrey Hepburn wearing then, with a pair of cigarette pants and a black bardot sweater, and generally speaking, if Audrey would wear it, that’s good enough for me. I think these would make a nice alternative to flats: I wear flat shoes out of necessity from time to time, but although I like the shoes themselves, I never like the way I look in them, and feel I need just a little bit of height to balance out my short legs. These will provide that extra lift without sacrificing any comfort, and if you’re a fan of classic style, I’m sure you won’t run out of ways to style them. Here’s just one of those ways:
Classic outfit with kitten heels:
♥ Closet dress ♥ J Crew trenchcoat ♥ Vince Camuto shoulder-bag ♥ Dolce & Gabbana scarf ♥ Versace sunglasses
One of the things I like about these shoes is that the lower heel would allow me to wear a shorter dress than I’d usually go for. I wouldn’t generally wear something as short and form-fitting with stilettos, but with these shoes it looks much more wearable as part of a daytime look.
They don’t have the wow factor of a decent pair of heels, but they are pretty. I don’t object to kitten heels if they are on the right style of shoe.
