Guess ‘Pallavi’ red patent slingbacks, £99.74
Guess have been doing a great line in red patent peep toes lately. One pair of them have already found their way onto my shoe shelves, and if it wasn’t for that, I’d have been very tempted by these ‘Pallavi’ slingbacks, too . In fact, I’ll be honest: I still AM tempted by them. Red peep toes fall into the “you can never have too many” category for me, so it’s hard to see a pair this lovely, and NOT want to buy them!
These have that quintessential summer look, courtesy of the cherry red upper and woven sole and heel. They have a small platform, and although I’m less keen on platforms than I used to be, I think they work better on summer sandals than they do on closed-toe pumps, and this one is just perfect. Without it, these would have a much more formal feel, but give the heel and sole a bit of texture, and they’re suddenly much more summery, and a little more casual – insofar as red high heels can EVER really be “casual”, obviously!
What to wear with red patent slingbacks?
I most often pair red shoes with polka dots or stripes, but another favourite look is red with an an all-white outfit, which is what I’ve gone for here:
red high heels with white dress:
♥ Diane Von Furstenberg white dress ♥ Jil Sander red clutch bag ♥ Thierry Lasry red and black sunglasses ♥ T. LeClerc red lipstick
Although it only uses two colours, this is a fairly bold look, which would be really striking for a summer party or similar: of course, the red lips are an essential part of the look, and I’d probably add some bright red nail polish too, as a finishing touch!
They are a great summer shoe!
