THE SHOE: Miss Selfridge ‘Chelsea’ gold block heel sandals, £39
60s style is big this season, and – in addition to some awesome mini dresses and cute coats – that means shoes are suddenly just a little bit more comfortable. Pointed stilettos and strappy sandals will never die, but this party season has seen an influx of lower, blockier heels too – all of which is good news for anyone who loves glamour, but doesn’t want to have to suffer for it.
(Not that I subscribe to the notion that all high heels are painful, of course: there are plenty which aren’t. But there’s no denying that some styles will always be a little more comfortable than others, too…)
These shoes aren’t totally 60s-inspired, but as soon as I saw them, I thought they’d look perfect with one of the many little A-line mini dresses that are around right now:
The Style: dress // bag // bracelet // necklace
This dress is from Marks & Spencer, but I also love this one from Zara:
Both gorgeous – and both would work just as well in warmer weather with flats/sandals and pair of oversized sunglasses. But back to the shoes…
This isn’t a style I’d normally go for, as I tend to prefer my heels a little slimmer than the ones on these, but I’m surprised by just how much I like them. I think a lot of that is down to the cracked leather-look upper, which looks much more expensive than it actually is. These are just £39, but I was sure they were real leather when I first found them, and while it’s possibly just good photography, I think they could easily pass for a much more expensive brand. The heel, meanwhile, definitely isn’t low (it’s 4″ exactly), but the width should provide added stability, making these great shoes for dancing in!
