Christian Louboutin Corneille patent, £395
These shoes are yet another example of Christian Louboutin’s genius when it comes to re-creating the basic black (or red, or whatever) pump. He’s been doing a lot of this lately, and I LOVE it. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the crazier designs, too, but I can’t help noticing that those are the styles that always end up on the sales racks, while the Pigalles and the Simple Pumps, and all of those more classic designs, sell out instantly, and then develop huge waiting lists.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see this style sell out fast either: in fact, at the time of writing there were only a couple of pairs left on the Louboutin website, so if you fell in love with them at first sight (I know I did), you might have to be prepared to shop around. They combine the simple elegance of a black patent pump with a stylish, asymmetric vamp: this is another thing Louboutin does very well, and I think the result is just breathtaking.
The good news is that, at £395, these are one of the lower-priced Louboutin styles you can buy. The bad news, however, is that they’re still almost £400, and that ain’t cheap. Worth it, though? Well, that’s a matter of opinion, but I do think they’re shoes that will last years and never go out of fashion, so you can probably guess MY answer…
Oh gosh I love them. You are completely right about the simplicity done so well.
