Time for Tea dress, £85

I know it’s been a while since I posted a Dress of the Day (making this one more of a ‘Dress of the Week’, really), but honestly, although I’ve seen plenty of dresses I’ve liked, I haven’t seen any I’ve liked enough to merit their own post… until now.

This dress is from 20th Century Foxy, which I know I’ve mentioned a few times now, but can you blame me, when this is the kind of thing they’re selling? Now, I realise novelty prints aren’t to everyone’s taste, and this definitely falls into that category: I mean, it’s a dress covered in kettles, spoons, and other kitchen-related items, and you don’t tend to see THAT very often, do you? I love it: I’ve never been keen on novelty shoes, but I can definitely get on board with a whimsical print, which I think is a good way to add a bit of humour and personality to what would otherwise be a very simple dress – not that there’s anything wrong with that, I hasten to add.

Actually, there’s a lot RIGHT with that: simple dresses are my “thing”, after all, and this one has a lovely, classic shape, which, although retro-inspired, won’t really date, and will therefore allow you to get years and years of wear out of it. The blue and yellow colours are very summery, and the full skirt + nipped-in waist formula is one that never fails to work, as far as I’m concerned. This dress is also lovely from the back, with a deep ‘V’ neckline to compliment the slightly higher V at the front.

This would look lovely with a cardigan and flats for daytime, or dressed up with a pair of killer heels for evening: or, wait, what am I saying? You can bust out those killer heels any time you like…
