I hereby re-name today The Day of Alarming Ankle Boots. I didn’t plan it that way, but sometimes that’s just the way it works out, and even Shoeperwoman is powerless to stop it.
As we noted last week, sequins and glitter are currently on a mission to take over the world. That was OK when they were restricting themselves to sandals and flats, but now they’ve attached themselves to boots, to – these ASOS ankle boots look like they’ve actually been attacked by the beasts – and I’m not sure I can get on board with that, especially when the boots in question have – deep sigh – PEEP TOES.
(Seriously, I am starting to worry that, come winter, we’re going to have absolutely no footwear options available to us that don’t have peep toes or glitter/sequins on them. Will there be ANY boots that normal, closed toes, I wonder? Because I just don’t live in a place where peep toes can be worn during winter, even if you DO wear thick tights with them. And I don’t want to.)
Anyway, should sequin-covered peep toe ankle boots be your thing, these ones are from ASOS and will set you back £50. Enjoy!
BUY: ASOS Angel sequin peep toe ankle boots, £50
I like them. However I do think they are executed badly. I like uniform things, couldn’t be doing with the haphazard sequins.
Ew they are foul.
I saw some alarming ankle boots in the window of Berketex Brides yesterday, ivory satin, pointed toe, stiletto heel with a diamante buckle detail. What bride would want to wear those with her wedding dress?!
Well, I actually kinda like them… I even find myself able to live with the peep toe thing which I usually see as very disturbing drawback if we talk about boots!
I would like to declare that the only glitter shoes that are allowed in the UNIVERSE are the Louboutin slingbacks you featured as the very first shoes on this site. The end.
Hi, I’m a new reader. I actually bought these boots, in black…..and sent them back this morning, I loved the idea of them, got obsessed with them, bought them and then (unsurprisingly) when they arrived & I tried them on, realised I look like an idiot in them. BUT, I think maybe if they didn’t have the peep-toe, and were lower on the ankle, they’d actually look quite cool. So my ‘dressy boot’ search continues
