Cute as a button, or cute overload? If your opinion tends towards the latter, you’ll be pleased to know that the over-sized button on Shoe Missy’s ‘Duffy’ peep toes is detachable, leaving you with a plain, but still pretty black pump, with white piping. I, meanwhile, have a bit of a weakness for buttons on shoes, so I love these just as they are, which is unfortunate given that they’re sold out in my size. If you’re NOT a UK size 4, however, and you love these too, you’ll be pleased to know they’re on sale at Spoiled Brat, for just £30. Get them here.
I’ve tried to resist commenting that these shoes are “as cute as a button”, but it looks like I can’t manage it. Forgive me.
It IS true, though. Over-used as it may be, I think the word “cute” is very fitting here: the patent uppers and white piping give these a sassy feel, and, me being me, I really appreciate the dots and stripes on the insole, even although no one would actually see it when the shoes were on. It’s a shame Next didn’t provide a larger image of the red version of these on their website, because those are the ones I’d go for, but I’m sure you get the idea even from this tiny glimpse of them!
I’m not sure how “lucky” the buttons on these shoes will turn out to be (Maybe you’ll just feel lucky if you get to own them?) but they’re certainly cute – as a, er, button - and that’s good enough for me.
Regardless of the cute factor provided by the buttons and bows here, it’s actually the gorgeous turquoise colour that attracts me to these. It really makes them stand out, but would still be very wearable, so you’d probably be able to get away with wearing them to work, or wherever else you wanted, too.
One of my favourite shoe designers, and one of my very favourite of his creations…
These are by Bruno Frisoni, and are actually an older design, which is why you can now buy them at a discount – they’re now £234 compared to the original price of £460.
This is one of those shoes I can imagine wearing again and again: they’re super-simple, but they’re also super-sexy, with that stiletto heel and black patent upper. I suspect they’d very quickly become my “go-to” evening shoes if I was to buy then, and I love the little button on the front.
As I said, these are older stock, and are on sale, so not all sizes are currently available. To check if yours is, take a look here.
This kind of mid-height heel is always problematic for me, because I think it can end up looking a little too matronly in the wrong hands. (Or on the wrong feet.) These ‘Cassie’ courts from Moda in Pelle, however, manage to solve that problem by adding a bit of a military touch with the two buttons, and then softening the whole look up with two shades of pink and a gently curved upper.
These could be a nice choice for someone who wants a bit of height without going for a stiletto, and they’ve just been reduced to £30 at Moda in Pelle.
