Emanuel Ungaro boots, £693
I should really love these. I mean, polka dots. On boots. You NEVER see polka dots on boots, do you? In fact, you so rarely see ANY kind of print at all on boots that these have to be applauded for sheer bravery alone.
As much as I like unusual boots, though, and as much as I LOVE polka dots, the shape of these isn’t quite working for me. They’ve been designed to look like the trunk of the boot is a separate section (As far as I can tell, it isn’t…) which has been zipped over the top of the vamp. It’s a bit of a strange effect, and I’d prefer a more streamlined shape, without the heel jutting out at the back, as it is in the top photo.
Here’s what they look like on:
These have a much wider leg opening than I’d generally go for, but despite that, and despite the reservations mentioned above, I actually like them better on than I’d expected to, and think the slouchy style could be really fun with a simple winter outfit: and God knows, winter outfits could (mostly) be doing with a huge injection of fun, no?
What do you think of these?
I want to like them, for much the same reasons as you do, but I don’t like the shape at all.
