I’ve said before (today, in fact), that brogues and lace-ups don’t really appeal to me, and these shoes are exactly the kind of thing I was talking about. This means that while I love Emma Watson, and think she always looks adorable, I just can’t love these shoes, which she wore to the Letterman show yesterday.
I’m more than a little biased against lace-up brogues, though (unless they have high heels, of course!), so I’m not best qualified to judge this look. What I will say is that this style is super-popular at the moment – I’m not sure where Emma’s shoes are from, but I’ve seen similar pairs, in all kinds of colour combinations, in the likes of Topshop, Faith etc, so if you do like these, they shouldn’t be too hard to find.
What do you think of them, though?
I think they could be cute with a more casual outfit, maybe capri pants and a camisole. They look ridiculous with that dress.
I’ve always considered these sort of shoes to be for pants only. Never a skirt or dress.
Open your mind to new looks. This is not bad and it’s different from the tiresome giant heel idea.
Hmm – not with a dress. Flat brogues with pants yes. Also, I’m not sure about the pink of the brogue against her skin – not the best match.
Ugly shoes regardless of whether they are worn with a dress, skirt or trousers. I can’t see the appeal of wearing clumpy mens shoes at anytime, unless you are in fact a man and even then there are nicer shoes than brogues out there!
I could get around brogues (didn’t know that’s what they were called) with that dress if they were slimmer cut and fit the foot a bit more. These look like shoes meant to go with shorts or trousers, like others have said. And the color is off, for me. That pink looks like she tried to MATCH it to her dress, and it doesn’t. Almost, but not quite.
I agree with most of the commenters…they could work for sure but not with a dress I do happen to prefer pointy toed brogues http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=403263 better than the round ones though, the round ones don’t really look modern enough for my liking…
Brogues are ugly, unattractive and just plain ridiculous, regardless of the outfit they are worn with. I agree that not everyone has to wear heels, and especially if they are as young as Emma (who I adore, btw), but there are so many cuter, cooler or more interesting options.
These are just so wrong.
The pink colour is awful. and they really don’t work with this dress. I LOVE brogues, but I prefer a less chunky style. I think they can be worn with a dress, but with opaque stockings.
I adore Emma Watson, I think she is super pretty!
