To describe these shoes simply as “white strappy sandals” would be to do them a huge dis-service, because there are white strappy sandals and there are white strappy sandals, right? And these, my friends, are definitely white strappy sandals – with the small matter of that floral embellishment snaking its way up the heel, of course.
The embellishment is EVERYTHING for these shoes. Without it, they’d be… well, they’d just be white strappy sandals, wouldn’t they? (That’s the first kind, just in case you’re wondering…) With it, they’re typically Dolce & Gabbana: the brand is just so good at making this kind of whimsical, almost fairy-take style shoe, and heavily embellished styles are one of their trademarks. This one, however, manages to remain fairly delicate looking (until you get to the very top of the heel, obviously, when it becomes ALL about the flower…), so they’re not too busy looking. I think they’d make amazing bridal shoes, although given that they’ll set you back $1,395, you might have to think about increasing your wedding budget just a little bit if you want to walk down the aisle in them.
Because of the bridal associations, a lot of people shy away from white shoes, worrying that it’ll be hard to style them without looking like you’re going to a wedding. White sandals are far easier in that respect than white pumps would be, however, and I don’t think these would present any difficulty at all when it came to working out what to wear with them. Because strappy sandals have that “barely there” feel to them, you can really wear them with just about anything, regardless of the colour of the shoes themselves. That’s definitely a good thing in this case, because if I was spending that much on shoes, I’d WANT to be able to wear them with everything!
