No, your eyes don’t deceive you: I’m showing you a pair of Jeffrey Campbell shoes, and I’m not even doing it to point out how ugly they are: in fact, I really like them. I know, it surprised me too, but in fairness, these aren’t actually “Jeffrey Campbell shoes”. They’re Jeffrey Campbell BOOTS, which is a totally different thing altogether: I rarely see a pair of JC shoes I don’t loathe, for instance, but I think the brand is a whole lot better at boots, which is why these are appearing here today. Well, that and the fact that as I may have mentioned, I’m on a bit of a mission at the moment to stock up on “practical” shoes: I have a TON of heels, as you know, but when it comes to the kind of shoes you’d wear on a long walk in the country, say, or to some other event which would require me to be on my feet for a long period of time, I’m pretty lost.
It’s hard to know without trying them on, of course, but these Western ankle boots look pretty comfortable to me. They’re not totally flat (which is a big no-no when it comes to me and comfort: a bit of arch support is always a good thing), but the heel is low enough for you to barely notice it’s there when you try to walk on it. They also have a lovely, studded upper, and a stretch panel at the ankle. This is a HUGE point in their favour for me: when it comes to ankle boots, one of the biggest issues I have is that they always seem to have very wide ankles, which make my legs look ridiculous. These ones look like they’d fit a little more snugly than most, and that’s good enough for me.
Oh, and they’re available in black and khaki, too!
