Affordable (green!) shoes from Charlotte Russe

green patent shoes Affordable (green!) shoes from Charlotte Russe

(Cone heeled pumps: click here to buy them)

I’m still busy looking for affordable shoes for you, and naturally, my thoughts turned to one of my own guilty little shoe pleasures: Charlotte Russe, where the shoes aren’t just affordable, they’re almost indecently affordable. (Once you’ve experienced one of their “But one pair, get a second pair for $10″ deals, you’ll understand what I mean…)

It’s been a long time since I last looked at the CR website, and I got all excited when I visited this morning, because for some reason, the prices are all displayed in pounds sterling (or, at least, they are for me: I would imagine this will change depending on where you’re based), and this made me think the brand had started shipping internationally. Sadly, this isn’t actually the case, and they still only ship to the US and Canada (See? This happens to those of us in the UK, too!), so this post is basically just a quick roundup of what I WOULD have bought if I’d been able to.  (And if I was buying shoes this month, which I most definitely am NOT.)

I’m starting off with the cone heeled pumps shown at the top of the page. You won’t be at all surprised to hear that it was the colour that drew me to these, but I actually really like the shape of them, too, and the fact that the heel is lower than we’re used to seeing from fashion brands. The cone heel gives them a really nice silhouette, and the colour is just gorgeous, don’t you think?

These are also available in red and taupe, and are £28.

Mojo Moxy bright blue bow platform court shoes

blue court shoes Mojo Moxy bright blue bow platform court shoesYou know, I don’t think there are enough pairs of bright blue shoes in the world, and today I’m aiming to rectify that situation by showing you these blue platforms by Mojo Moxy.

These are just $69, which is pretty good for a pair of leather shoes, and while the colour alone is enough to get them noticed, they also have another couple of details that caught my attention, such as the small platform and zip-lined bow detail. With a colour like this, it’s generally a good idea to keep the rest of the shoe simple, and that’s exactly what the brand have done here, adding just a couple of embellishments, and letting the colour speak for itself. If you don’t like what the colour is saying, however, these are also available in black: get them at Shoes.com.

Enzo Angiolini ‘Maylie’ patent peep toes in 12 different colours

patent peep toes Enzo Angiolini Maylie patent peep toes in 12 different coloursThey may just be your standard, patent peep toes, but no one could accuse Enzo Angiolini of not giving us enough colour choices, because there are 12 of them to choose from in this style. I’ve shown you my three favourites, above (If I had to choose, I think it would be a toss-up between the pink and nude, with the pink probably coming out on top), but you can view the rest over at Zappos, and embark upon the difficult task of choosing your favourites.

Colour range aside, a pair of these in just about ANY colour would probably come in useful, and the price is great too, at just $58.95. Which would you choose?

Wedge heeled wedding shoes by Pour la Victoire

wedge weddings shoes Wedge heeled wedding shoes by Pour la Victoire

Pour la Victoire are selling the champagne and white versions of these shoes as wedding shoes, which interested me because although wedges make fairly practical shoes for brides (the heel gives more support than a flat, but is much easier to stand up in all day than a stiletto), you don’t tend to see a lot of them around, so perhaps these will be of interest to any wedge-loving brides-to-be out there.

I love the shape of the heel and the bow detail, and I even like the chunkiness of the ankle strap, although I know it’ll turn a lot of people off these. I think repeated exposure to this kind of style has helped adjust my eye to it, though, and I find myself liking them more and more these days too.

If you like them too, but don’t have a handy wedding coming up, you may be pleased to know they’re also available in black. They’re $180 at Zappos.

Crackled gold rosette stilettos from Forever 21

forever 21 gold sandals Crackled gold rosette stilettos from Forever 21

As much as I love gold on shoes, I have to acknowledge that it can be hard to get right. If it’s too shiny, it can very easily start to look cheap, and without seeing them in person, it’s hard to know whether or not that’s the case with these Forever 21 sandals. Of course, these shoes ARE cheap: they’re only $25.80, so it would be unfair of us to expect too much of them, and I love the shape of them. That rise embellishment on the toe is particularly pretty, and these look like the perfect shoes to wear with a party dress. If you’re not convinced by the gold, they’re also available in black, which is a little more restrained. What do you think?

These shoes were suggested to me by reader Amy, who thought I might like them. And Amy was right: I do like them! Very much, in fact. I mean, what’s not to like here? The colour, while not quite “nude” is close enough to my pale skin tone to have great leg-lengthening properties, the shape is elegant, and … I don’t really even need to mention the cute-as-a-button little bow, do I?

I also like the tweed uppers on these shoes, and the fact that they’re also available in black and brown. If you like them too, they’re available at Amazon, with the price starting from $59.

    Thanks for the tip, Amy!

    Miu Miu glitter wedge sandals

miu miu glitter sandals Miu Miu glitter wedge sandalsTrust Miu Miu to add glitter to a summery sandal!

The shape of these shoes, plus the low, tan coloured wedge, says “picnic in the park” to me, but the glittery uppers seem to want to toss the picnic aside and have a glitzy party in the park instead. Strangely, though, the combination works, and I think these could be great shoes for summer, with the heel making them a comfortable alternative to stilettos, while all that glitter ensures they’ll never be ignored.

These are $545 at Bergdorf Goodman.

Steve Madden ‘Fauntain’ rope soled wedges

steve madden wedges Steve Madden Fauntain rope soled wedges

Even although I’m currently on the hunt for a pair of comfortable, casual wedges to take on holiday with me this summer, I probably wouldn’t have given Steve Madden’s ‘Fauntain’ a second look, were it not for the photo of them being worn, which proved that the “natural” colour could just  be the perfect nude to match my pale legs!

When it comes to canvas wedges, I’m looking for something super-versatile that won’t weigh down my suitcase, and will work with every item of clothing inside it. So far, these fit the bill, and the fact that they have a pretty little flower on the front is just the icing on the, er, shoe.

If nude shoes aren’t for you, these come in six other colours, too. They’re $99.95 at Steve Madden.
