A go-with-anything colour, and a design that’ll be just as pretty for you to look down at as it will be for other people to watch you wear. Because with shoes this pretty, you’re going to be spending a lot of time looking at your feet…

Christian Louboutin Lady Bow champagne slingbacks, $735

When I first saw these shoes, I was absolutely sure they were by Nicholas Kirkwood. Mind you, I find myself saying that a lot these days, so maybe I just spend too much time thining about Mr Kirkwood’s fabulous designs, hmm?

These are actually by Sam Edelman, though, and the good news about that is it makes them a little more affordable than a Kirkwood shoe. The bad news is that they’re still not exactly “cheap” at £165, but I think they’re rather special, and if you do too, you may just find them worth the price.

Of course, some of you will be groaning aloud right now at the gladiatr influences on these. We saw a lot of that kind of thing last year – a LOT of it – and it’s not to everyone’s taste. These are definitely to my taste, though: I think they’d make a fabulus summer sandal or evening shoe. Get them at My-Wardrobe.

These shoes aren’t new: they’ve been available on the Miss Selfridge site for a few weeks now, but it’s taken me that long to work out how I felt about them! I’ve finally decided that I love them, though: or at least, I think I do. They’re kinda over-the-top, and I’ve no idea how they’d actually look on a foot, but I think they’re lots of fun, and I really love the dots (which are going to be big this year. I’ve decided.). They also very much remind me of some of the Charlotte Olympia styles from last year, as they have a similar, slightly-cartoonish feel about them.

What do you think of these, readers? If you like them, you’ll be pleased to know they’re a relatively affordable £40, and you can buy them here.

I think… maybe… possibly… Yes, it is: it’s love.

Thanks, Faith. Tuesday’s always one of my least favourite days of the week, but these have just made it feel a whole lot better. If you think so too, they’re £65 and you can buy them here.

fendi-platform-heels

Gigantic, clumpy platforms like these are nothing new at the moment, so I’m mostly just showing you these ones by Fendi because of the heel. Or should that be “heels”? Seriously, I thought I had double vision when I first glanced at this shoe, with it’s double stiletto heels.  Why are they there? What purpose do they serve? Well, none, really, other than to provide a talking point on an otherwise fairly boring shoes, I guess. And given that here I am writing about them, they seem to have succeeded on that score.

What do you think of them, though? Worth $900? Nope, didn’t think so…

Bourne Tatana suede over the knee boots

bourne-over-the-knee-boots

I’ve mentioned Bourne once before here. They’re one of my favourite brands of Shoes I Will Never Be Able to Wear because most of their styles tend to fall into the bridal/special occasion category, and, well, I don’t get out much.  I was really pleased, then, to discover these boots: you could argue that they’re ALSO very much a “dress” shoe (or boot, rather), but the patent leather/diamante strap at the ankle is detachable, so you can whip it off and be left with a regular, suede over-the-knee boot.

I’m still currently obsessed with OTK styles, so naturally I’m loving these. If you are too, they’re £208 at Viva la Diva.

roberto-cavalli-ankle-boots

Well, if the last pair of boots I showed you vaguely reminded me of a chair, these ones definitely do (albeit it’s the arm of the chair, not the leg I’m thinking of this time. I’ve talked a lot about chairs today, haven’t I?). And also a boat. So… a boat that is also a chair, then. Or actually, hold on a minute: is it actually the bannister of a stair I’m thinking of? Some other kind of carved woodwork? God, I’m confused. I haven’t had enough coffee for this…

Let’s just stick to what we DO know, then: they’re boots. Ankle boots. They’re suede. They’re by Roberto Cavalli. They cost $1364 at Zappos. I think the image of them above would make a very nice print, maybe if you had one of those cool, open-plan lofts or something. Are they a success as boots, though? I’ll leave that one up to you to ponder…

d&g-ankle-boots

Remember the D&G bow-backed shoes I showed you a few weeks ago? Well, here’s the ankle boot version, with the bow on the toe rather than the heel, and looking a bit like an extravagantly-wrapped parcel.

G&G have made a few different shoes featuring this lace and satin ribbon recently, but I think these ones fall into the “pretty but impractical” category for me. They’re very much an evening style, but although the trend at the moment is for mini dresses with ankle boots for a “dressed up” look, it’s just not a look I love. These are $625.60 from Zappos Couture.

D&G Dolce & Gabbana ribbon-front ankle boots, $625

suede-slouch-bootsI have a bit of a “thing” for purple boots at the moment. Fi has a a fantastic pair from Next that I rather like the look of, but these ones from Dorothy Perkins have also caught my eye. The purple makes a nice change from black, but is also dark enough and neutral enough to be fairly versatile.

I also like the grey version of these, and the low-ish heel should make them easy to walk in. As ever with suede shoes/boots, I worry about taking them out in the rain (which pretty much rules out wearing them at all around here, unfortunately), but if you have similar concerns, the style is also available in brown leather.

french-connection-platform-

I know a lot of fashion commentators have been claiming that the high heel is on its last legs (no pun intended) and that flats are the way forward, but I have to say, I’m not really seeing much sign of that actually happening, are you? In fact, every day, heels – and platforms – seem to get higher and higher. Pretty soon we’re going to need old-fashioned “mounting blocks” to b able to get into them.

French Connection’s ‘Sara’ pumps don’t quite fall into that category, thankfully, but they are cast in the image of the now familiar chunky-platform: the difference is that these do it a little better than most, and while the gold trim on the sole is a little on the flashy side, I don’t think they’d be too difficult to pull off. They’re £120 and available direct from French Connection.
