Over the past few months, I’ve been noticing an increasing number of shoes like this in stores and in magazines/blogs. With their low, blocky heel and ankle strap, they have a real 1960s vibe about them, which makes them a great choice to wear with other 60s-inspired styles, such as A-line mini skirts, which would possibly be a little too much with stilettos, but which are perfect worn with something a little lower.
I’ll be honest: shoes like this really aren’t my style, which is why I’ve pretty much ignored this trend, even although it’s been around for a while now. I’ve said before that I like my heels either very high, or non-existent, and low, square heels always feel a little bit matronly to me – probably because I know I couldn’t pull them off without looking frumpy.
It’s always great to see someone making low heels which have a touch of glamour to them, though, and although I’d struggle to style these personally, I’ve seen enough women looking fantastic in this kind of style to know that it can be done, so I figured I’d show you these, and ask what you thought of them. I know there are quite a few of you out there who don’t like wearing heels, so perhaps something like this will suit you better. If so, they’re also available in pink, and they’re £48 at Topshop.
