Naught Monkey yellow ‘Fiesta’ pumps

Like orange, yellow has been starting to pop up here and there in the shoe world and these citrus colours are going to be particularly welcome at the end of this long, hard winter. These Naughty Monkey sandals have a fair amount of studding on them, which I would imagine will make some of you cry “Not AGAIN?!” but I like ‘em: the studs add a little something to these shoes, and the cheeky hint of snake-print helps, too.

They’re $79.95 from Nordstrom.

Elizabeth and James suede ‘Mason’ pumps

I’ve seen these shoes on so many different retail websites now I figured it was probably a sign that I should write about them. Now that I have, I’m not quite sure what took me so long: the colours alone are enough to draw me to these! I particularly like the turquoise, but the pink and yellow shades also provide a nice antidote to the gloomy weather, and make me think of all of the pretty summer dresses they could be worn with.

If you can’t wait until the warmer weather comes along, though, these will also work with jeans, trousers or bring a splash of colour to winter pieces, too. They’re £354 at Zappos.

Joan & David suede ruffle pumps

Now here’s a couple of colours we don’t often get to see on shoes! Kinda refreshing, isn’t it?

I know yellow is a perennially unpopular clothing/footwear choice for a lot of people, and it’s true that it can be hard to wear (especially in the case of clothes). I’ve always quite liked it, though, perhaps because it always instantly draws the eye, and because if you choose the right shade, it can be stunning, as well as unusual.

Needless to say, then, I really like the yellow version of these, although the turquoise is also very pretty. These are both fairly summery colours, but the shoes are also available in black, if you want to wear them now, without worrying about the mud and slush of winter. They’re $204 from Zappos.

Oh, would you look at that, it’s winter again! Seriously, I drove to the supermarket yesterday, and it was freezing outside. And on the way back? Hail stones. I had to take off my peep toes and put on a pair of flats before I went. I HATE IT when that happens.

Anyway. Given that we still appear to be pretty far from summer here in the UK, I thought I’d cheer myself up by looking at these ‘Klaudia’ sandals from Dune, which are just about as sunshiny and summery as it’s possible for a shoe to be. I’m also liking the idea of embellished ankle straps at the moment. Yes, you could end up looking like a show pony, but it could also look fantastic, and having seen these shoes in this month’s issue of Cosmo, being worn by a model, I think they fall into the latter category.

These are £85 from Dune, and, as with the Oscar de la Renta sandals featured earlier this week, if you have a pair of shoes with ankle straps already, you could always DIY it by simply attaching your own corsage.
