You never really know in this country, do you?), I start to find myself drawn to much chunkier styles of shoes than I tend to go for in winter. They’re a great way to offset the floatiness of a summer dress or skirt, and they tend to be a little more comfortable than their spindly-heeled sisters, too.

These Zandra Rhodes sandals come in my current favourite summer colour, turquoise, and also have a gold trim on both the platform and heel, which is a lovely touch. The wooden sole and heel, meanwhile, gives them a nice, summery feel, which I love.

I’ve been so desperate for some new stock to arrive at my favourite shoe stores (I absolutely hate this time of year, when all that’s available is the last dregs of the sale stock!) that I’m willing to overlook the fact that most of said new arrivals are far too summery/dressy to fit my current lifestyle, which involves being snow-bound for days on end. (I haven’t left the house now since January 2nd. Whoops.)

These Marc Jacobs sandals are new in at Net-a-Porter, and instantly caught my eye with their metallic uppers and jewelled fronts. Marc Jacobs can be very hit or miss, I find, but I think these are a definite hit – or at least, they would be if they weren’t £460!

BCBG Max Azria Mayda SKU 7 BCBG Max Azria Mayda platform pumpsAt a time when so many shoes look exactly the same as each other, these BCBG Max Azria pumps at least have the benefit of being different.

BUT.

I think “different” is probably the most positive thing I’m going to be able to say about these, because while I quite like the heels, the front of the shoe looks a lot like a horse’s hoof to me. In fact, the more I look at them, the more “hoof like” they appear. So, points for originality, then, but none for wearability, because I can’t see myself wanting to clomp along in them, somehow. Can you?
