Yves Saint Laurent ‘Gipsy 105′ woven heeled sandals

yves saint laurent gipsy shoes Yves Saint Laurent Gipsy 105 woven heeled sandalsThese shoes have their backs to us, not because they’ve done something wrong and been sent to stand in the corner, but because the heels are the most interesting thing about them. Don’t believe me? Oh, OK, here’s the side view:

yves saint laurent sandals Yves Saint Laurent Gipsy 105 woven heeled sandalsSee? They’re not bad shoes, but the white uppers are a bit… well, bland, really. The purple heel and sole, however, are a different matter, and while I wouldn’t buy them myself – and certainly not for £539 – they did make me stop and look, and if a shoe has the power to make me stop in my tracks, well, that’s normally enough to make me want to show you it.

These have woven heels, just like almost every other pair of shoes I seem to find right now, which have been dyed a deep, vibrant purple. And that’s about all I have to say about them. I’m off to look at those Miss KGs again now: you, meanwhile, can click here if you want to have a better look at these.

I never thought I’d find myself admiring a pair of white, pointy-toed stilettos, and yet somehow here I am admiring these ones. Not in an “I’d buy and wear them,” kind of way, you understand, but more in a “If Carrie Bradshaw wore them, I’d probably love them.”

I do love the red flash on the heel, though, and these are the kind of shoes that jumped out of me as I scrolled through the Net-a-Porter “New In” page. What do you think of them?

They’re £355: click here to buy them.

Betsey Johnson white ‘Molly’ sandals with polka dot bow

betsey johnson molly sandals Betsey Johnson white Molly sandals with polka dot bowWhite shoes have never been my favourite thing in the world, but I think I’d be willing to make an exception for these ‘Molly’ sandals, by Betsey Johnson. Not only is the colour totally appropriate for a summer sandal, the bow is adorable and the wooden heel looks both comfortable and cute, which is an all-too-rare combination.

I’d love to see these with an equally monochrome outfit (black jeans or dress would look fabulous), but they’ll be equally at home with most other colours too. Click here to see for yourself.

Leather high heeled loafers from River Island

high heeled loafers from river island Leather high heeled loafers from River IslandAny time the word “loafer” appears in a product description, it’s usually a pretty good clue that the shoes in question won’t interest me at all. These River Island high heeled loafers, however, are the exception to that rule: I love the pretty/vaguely 70s-inspired look of these, which would be perfect for Autumn. If the weather was no object, my preference would be for the white versions, which would take you all the way through to Spring easily (and be fabulous with the nautical-inspired fashions that reappear every year as soon as the weather starts to warm up), but the mustard yellow is rather lovely too, and will work well with this season’s camel.

Like them? They’re £59.99, and you can click here to buy a pair from River Island.

Red and white bow ballet flats from Next

next bow ballet flats Red and white bow ballet flats from Next

I don’t often shop from Next’s clothing collections, but I must admit, they have a rather nice line in ballet flats, with everything from jewelled Miu-Miu-esque party flats to these simple but chic little flexible ballerinas, which come complete with a striped bow threaded through the front.

These are available in red and white/blue, and I’d be hard pressed to choose between them, because the colours are just perfect for summer. The white shoes have a lovely, fresh look about them, while the red versions are a little bit sassier. Both are £28, and you can choose your colour here.

Alexander McQueen white rhinestone peep toes

alexander mcqueen white pee Alexander McQueen white rhinestone peep toesEvery time I see the words “white” and “rhinestones” in the same sentence, I instantly think “cowboys”. Or cowgirls, even. Fancy ones. Ones that are all dressed up for a hoedown, or whatever it is cowpersons do for fun. Luckily, though, these Alexander McQueen peep toes have escaped any associations with the old West (although pair them with a denim skirt and I might be forced to think again about that), although personally I’d still be struggling to find an appropriate occasion to wear them. They have white satin uppers covered with black rhinestones, and Matches say they’re perfect for “good girls gone bad”. Umm, OK. They’re also perfect for good OR bad girls who happen to have a spare £935 burning a hole in their bank account. That’s me ruled out, then, but if you’re still in the running, you can buy them at Matches.
