Vivienne Westwood’s ‘toe’ shoes – Autumn Winter 2009

vivienne westwood toe shoes Vivienne Westwoods toe shoes Autumn Winter 2009

I’m guessing it’s probably no great surprise to anyone who reads this blog to know that I’m a huge Vivienne Westwood fan, both in terms of clothes and shoes.

These shoes, though? These trouble me. The, um, “toe ridges”, if that’s the right expression, are a big feature of the A/W 09 collection, and, well, “hate” is a very strong word, so let’s just say they make all of the shoes look like they were two sizes too small for their owner, who nevertheless decided to wear them anyway, to the point where the leather started to mold to their toes.

In other words: I’m not keen. If you are, though, the two styles shown here, and many more besides, can be found here. What do you think, though?

Celebrity Shoes: Leona Lewis in Vivienne Westwood’s Lady Dragon shoes

LFI USPARTY 0021 Celebrity Shoes: Leona Lewis in Vivienne Westwoods Lady Dragon shoes

Leona Lewis’s style has been a bit hit and miss lately. I can’t say I’m all that sold on this outfit, which she wore to US Weekly’s Hot Hollywood party, either, but one thing I CAN say for sure is tat I love her shoes! They’re Vivienne Westwood/Melissa’s Lady Dragon shoes in purple, and I know most of you seemed to hate them when I showed you them a couple of weeks ago, but I’ll still happily admit to being a fan, and even although I sent back the peach pair I ordered in the summer, every time I see someone wearing one of the other colours, I find myself wishing I had a pair.

Sadly for me, it’s not to be, but what do you think of them with Leona’s outfit?

vivienne westwood lady drag Vivienne Westwoods Lady Dragon shoes available in four different coloursSorry for the lack of posts this week, everyone: after the server crash on what’s become known around here as Black Friday, followed by Terry and I being stranded on the motorway the following Sunday, things have been pretty hairy, and I just haven’t been able to get back into a proper posting schedule yet.  Things are slowly getting back to normal, though, and I hope to be totally back to normal by next week. In the meantime, here, have a picture of the four new colours of Vivienne Westwood’s Lady Dragon shoes for Melissa. I want them all. If you do, too, they’re available at Epaulet, for $149 each.

Shoe Shopping With Shoeperwoman: Vivienne Westwood Anglomaia/Melissa Peach Lady Dragon Shoes

lady dragon shoes Shoe Shopping With Shoeperwoman: Vivienne Westwood Anglomaia/Melissa Peach Lady Dragon ShoesSo, I ordered the Vivienne Westwood Lady Dragon shoes.

And the very next day, I sent them right back. I know, I still can’t quite believe it either. But quite apart from the fact that after my last little shopping excursion I’d vowed to buy no more shoes for the foreseeable future:

    a) They were too big for me. (The size down was out of stock, and I could tell it would’ve been too small, anyway. Woe!)

    b) In real life, the “peach” colour, which I’d hoped would be not too far off “nude”, was a lot more orangey than I was expecting it to be: it hasn’t really shown up properly in my photos either, but it was much more lurid than it looks here, and it made my feet look a really odd colour next to it.

Now, I could have exchanged them for a different colour (I really like the baby blue, for instance), but for once in my life I decided to do the sensible thing and just send them back. One thing I will say, though: I ordered the shoes from My-Wardrobe and was really impressed with the service. I placed my order on Friday morning and the shoes were with me early on Monday, having been trackable all the way. When I had to return them, they were also collected from my door free of charge, so there was no trip to the post office – always a bonus. (I hate the post office with a fiery passion).

There are a couple more photos under the jump: I’m still gutted these didn’t work out – I still love the shape of them, and although I wasn’t sold on the plastic (it stunk to high heaven, and Shoeperman thought it looked very cheap and a bit cartoonish), if Anglomania were to ever make a version of these in leather, say, I’d be ALL OVER THEM…

Shoe Kryptonite: Vivienne Westwood Anglomania/Melissa ‘Lady Dragon’ shoes: they’re back!

melissa lady dragon Shoe Kryptonite: Vivienne Westwood Anglomania/Melissa Lady Dragon shoes: theyre back! These are the shoes that are currently sitting right at the very top of my “I want” list. They’re the famous Lady Dragon shoes from the Vivienne Westwood Anglomania/Melissa collaboration, and although I had my heart set on the nude/black combo, I wouldn’t say no to these ones, either, IF THEY WERE IN MY SIZE. Which they’re not. They’re also around £20 more expensive than they were when they were originally released last year, which is just the latest in a long saga concerning me and these shoes.

These, you see, are The Ones That Got Away. I managed to resist buying them when they were first released, telling myself that they were plastic, and what would I do with a pair of plastic shoes, really? But then time went by, and I thought, what WOULDN’T I do? And who knew plastic could be so. damn. pretty?

Anyway, I resisted, and then, of course, they sold out. Then they started appearing on eBay for £200 each. Which was around about the time I developed the Shoeperwoman Motto, which is:

“When you see shoes you love, in your size: BUY THEM. No, seriously: BUY THEM.”

Feel free to borrow this motto any time you like. You’re welcome.

The point of this post, however, wasn’t to whine about my lack of Lady Dragon shoes. (Well, it kind of was, but, you know.) No, the point was to inform you that they’re now back in stock at Coggles, although only in the blue/red shown above, and only in sizes 7 and 8 (UK). Naturally, I’m a size 4.

You know how it goes, though, folks: if the shoe fits, buy it – you can get them here.

BUY: Vivienne Westwood/Melissa Lady Dragon shoes, £90
