I’m showing you the back view of these shoes first, because I think I already know what you’re going to say about the front/side:

And now I’m going to start a drinking game whereby I get to take a shot every time someone uses the phrase “stripper shoes” in the comments. Please try not to get me TOO drunk…

(Oh: they’re £1116, in case you were wondering. And you can click here to buy them.)

OK, I’m going to keep this one brief because, let’s face it, there’s only so many times I can tell you how much I like the combination of red + leopard print, isn’t there? Or you’ll just start yelling, “We GET IT, Shoeperwoman! Now on with the shoes!”

These Versace pumps use the colour combination in question to maximum effect: there’s just no way anyone’s going to be ignoring these bad boys, are they? The heel, however, is unusual enough to attract attention even without the animal print attached to it. It has a bit of a futuristic feel and, actually, I’m just going to say it: it reminds me of Meccano, for some reason. No, I don’t know why.

These are £495, which is, of course, just a wee bit on the expensive side. Are they worth it, though? You decide…

As I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, I’m an old-fashioned girl at heart when it comes to footwear. I have a couple of simple preferences I like to abide by. One, for instance, is that boots should not have peep toes. They don’t need them. Another is that sandals should not resemble boots, and reach all the way up your calf. That’s what boots are for.

All of that said, I’m a contrary creature, too, and I rather like the look of these. The LOOK of them, I said. I wouldn’t actually BUY them, obviously, but I’ve always been a sucker for bright red with white buttons, and if I could cut these off at the ankle, I’d probably love them.

What do you think of them?

(They’re £590 at Net-a-Porter. Click here to buy them.)

I never thought I’d find myself admiring a pair of white, pointy-toed stilettos, and yet somehow here I am admiring these ones. Not in an “I’d buy and wear them,” kind of way, you understand, but more in a “If Carrie Bradshaw wore them, I’d probably love them.”

I do love the red flash on the heel, though, and these are the kind of shoes that jumped out of me as I scrolled through the Net-a-Porter “New In” page. What do you think of them?

Versace metal-heeled leather ankle boots

I showed you the shoe version of these a few weeks ago, and wasn’t particularly taken with them. Because “fickle” is my middle name, though (Not literally: it’s “Louise”), I have to admit that the boots are somehow more appealing to me: perhaps just because my experience is that boots are much easier to walk in, because they give some extra support to the ankle, and let’s face it, with a heel/platform combo like this one, you’re going to need all the support you can get.

I think we need another photo in order to savour these fully:

Hmm. This is one of those cases where it looks like a regular old court shoe is either giving birth to a giant, mutant platform, or has just hopped aboard one for a piggyback ride. In other words, shoes like this always look to me like they’re not supposed to look like this.

Of course, that double-platform effect is exactly what Versace were aiming for with these shoes, and the result is a 7″ stiletto heel atop a 3″ platform. That sounds a little bit daunting even to a high heel/platform obsessive like me, so I’d hate to imagine how it would feel to someone who’s not used to heels, but if you’d like to give these a shot, click here to buy them from Net-a-Porter, where they’re £770.

Wow. Those are some heels, no?

As much as I love my heels, I have to admit that even I baulk slightly at the thought of trying to walk in these two shoes from Versace’s Spring/Summer collection, although I’d love to give it a go, if only to find out what it’s like to be tall for once. The heels on both styles come in at 7 inches: the platforms, meanwhile, are 3″, making them taller than some stilettos.  I reckon they’re probably amongst the highest “fashion” shoes around at the moment (by which I mean simply “non-fetish wear, and not designed for actual strippers”), and although the boots have already appeared in a few fashion editorials, I’ll be curious to see how many people will actually take on the challenge of wearing them. I’d guess probably not many outside of celebrity circles!

What do you think of these shoes? Would you wear them? If so, both styles are available at Net-a-Porter, where you’ll pay a cool £1,925 for the shoes and £1,370 for the “boots”.

Versace turquoise demi-wedge sandals

versace turquoise sandals Versace turquoise demi wedge sandalsVersace have produced some stunning shoes over the past few seasons, and now that some of those styles are starting to filter through onto designer discount site, Yoox.com, it’s a very dangerous time indeed for the Shoeper bank balance.

These gorgeous turquoise sandals are sold out in everything but my size, UK 4, and if I was a little richer, I’d probably take that as A SIGN to snap them up. I’m not rich, though, and these are £315, so they’ll have to remain on the site, for someone else to snap up. Maybe one of my readers? If so, you can buy them here - they’re also available in cream, and in a UK size 7.
