Red Herring white platform ‘Tinkerbell’ shoes with corsage

white platform shoes with corsage Red Herring white platform Tinkerbell shoes with corsage

There used to be a time when a pair of white shoes were considered horribly tacky (yes, I am old enough to remember these times). No more, though: in fact, add a black platform, heel and corsage, and you actually end up with something quite classic and striking, like these Red Herring ‘Tinkerbell’ platforms, which are all dressed up with their outsized corsage, but which will also look great as day-wear, with a pair of opaque tights,

These also appeal to me because they’re a bit of a steal at the reduced price of £28. Click here to buy them.

Penny Loves Kenny suede two-tone ‘Tetra’ pumps with studs

Aaaaaand we’re back! Did everyone have a good Christmas (assuming, of course, that you celebrate it)? Did you find any new pairs of shoes under the tree?

I figured most of you are probably all Christmas-ed out after the last few days (I know I am), so today I bring you a shoe that’s neither red nor green nor glitter-covered, or, indeed, in any way “festive”. Think if it as the calm in the middle of the Christmas-New Year storm.

That’s not, of course, to say that this shoe doesn’t have charms of its own. Penny Loves Kenny isn’t a brand I’ve featured here before, but it’s one I’ll definitely be keeping a closer eye on, now that I’ve seen this vision of blue and grey loveliness. The cool blue and grey upper is very welcome after the sequin-storm we’ve been living through this month, and the studs on the toe amp it up a little (and also remind me of another shoe, which I just can’t quite place at the moment. Any ideas?).

So, I have to ask: we know Penny Loves Kenny, but do YOU love Penny Loves Kenny?

These are also available in black and brown, and are $89.99 at Heels.com. Click here to buy them.

Blue and white suede effect sandals from New Look

blue and white shoes Blue and white suede effect sandals from New LookThese shoes don’t exactly say “winter” to me: in fact, that blue and white upper is practically screaming “summer” at me, so well would it work with my typically nautical Spring/Summer wardrobe choices. There’s nothing like planning ahead, though, especially when the shoes in question have been reduced to £19.99 in the sale. For that price, you can guess that these aren’t real suede, but they have the looks to make up for it, and if, for some reason you don’t like to dress like a sailor (well, a high-heel wearing version of one, anyway) when summer rolls around, they’re also available in black and silver.

Tan buckle two-tone shoe boots from Miss Selfridge

OK, I give up: I’m just going to set up a direct debit which will automatically send all of my money to Miss Selfridge each month, and, in return, they can just send me a selection of their shoes and dresses. It’ll be easier than the current method, but will basically amount to the same thing.

Seriously, though, as if you couldn’t have guessed by now, Miss S have really impressed me with their footwear this year, and these little two-buckle shoe boots are the latest shoes to have me drooling. A two-tone upper, a bit of brogue detailing at the toe, and, of course, those two little buckles on the front make these the perfect shoes for winter. In fact, I’d describe them as “bang on trend”, but then I’d have to slap myself because I hate that phrase. Let’s just say they look good, and will work well with lots of other winter fashions, hmm?

Two tone leather brogues from New Look

two tone leather brogues new look Two tone leather brogues from New Look

I know I seem to be writing about high heeled brogues rather a lot right now, and ones from New Look in particular, but what can I say: there are a lot of them around, and I seem to like almost all of them. Maybe I should just buy a pair and get it out of my system?

These ones are £44.99 and come in one of my favourite colour combinations, tan and black, with a toe-cap to give them a very dapper feel. I’m starting to think this particular style of shoe could be the perfect choice for winter (or at least those parts of it when it’s still possible to walk safely in heels): if you agree, you can click here to buy yourself a pair!

Valentino black and cream patent bow pumps

I’m guessing no one is going to be particularly surprised to see a Valentino shoe featuring a bow as its main attraction. The bow is, after all, one of the brand’s main calling cards, but this one is a little different from the usual, front-of-shoe extravaganzas, in that it’s a little smaller, and is sitting off to the side of the shoe rather than right on the toe. OK, so it’s not actually that different from Valentino’s usual offerings, I admit it. It’s still pretty, though, and if you want to buy a pair of these for yourself, you can click here to do it: just be prepared for the £645 price.

black and white brogues Dune black and white lace up heeled broguesFor those of you who love brogues, but prefer your shoes to have at least a little bit of a heel on them, Dune’s black and white ‘Maz’ lace-ups offer a particularly dapper looking take on the trend. These are currently on sale for £48, but a couple of sizes are already sold out, so if you like them, you’re going to have to get your skates brogues on.

These have a very 40s feel about them, which may appeal to lovers of retro-style fashion. Click here to buy them.
