Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Henry’ leather and metal T-bar sandals

giuseppe zanotti henry sandals Giuseppe Zanotti Henry leather and metal T bar sandals

Readers, meet “Henry”. Henry, readers; readers, Henry. I love it when designers give their shoes human names. It helps give them even more personality than they have already (and also makes it even harder for me to want to part with them when the time comes. I have a tendency to anthropomorphise my shoes, though. It’s probably not healthy.).

As you can see, our Henry is rather handsome. He has leather uppers topped with mirror-shine metal inserts, and he manages to look both classic and a little bit futuristic at the same time.

OK, I’ll stop referring to the shoes as “he” now. Or I’ll try, anyway.

These are by Giuseppe Zanotti, and they’re $895 at Shopbop and Net-a-Porter.

    Miu Miu t-bar glitter sandals

miu miu t bat glitter sandals Miu Miu t bar glitter sandalsIf you’re anything like me, you probably had to stifle a bit of a yawn at the sight of the words “glitter” and “Miu Miu” in the same sentence. Glitter has become somewhat synonymous with the brand, but just as I think they must have run-out of variations on the theme, they manage to come up with something that instantly re-awakens my interest, and today that “something” is these t-bar sandals.

These have a beautiful shape, which reminds me a little of an old-fashioned dance shoe – an association which makes the glittery uppers even more appropriate, although I think I’d probably love these regardless of what the brand decided to use on the upper.

If you love them too, they’re $640 and you can click here to order a pair from Barneys.

Grey ‘Buttons & Bows’ t-bar shoes from Modcloth

buttons and bows t bar shoes Grey Buttons & Bows t bar shoes from ModclothThey’re a different colour, and they have a slightly higher heel, but other than that, these shoes are pretty much identical to a pair Office brought out last year. Remember them?

The biggest difference here, however, is the price: the Office shoes retailed for £60, whereas the Modcloth versions are just $37,99, which is an absolute bargain, and makes me want to yell, “QUICK, PEOPLE! GET THEM! GET THEM BEFORE THEY’RE GONE!”

    Have you got them yet?

If you’ve tried to get them, you’ll probably have noticed they’re already sold out in some sizes – or possibly in all sizes, depending on when you’re reading this, and how good your fellow readers were at obeying my ALL CAPS shouty direction above. If your size is gone, I’m sorry, I did my best to warn you. If it isn’t, though, click here to claim your prize…

Pink ‘Marla’ t-bar flower detail pumps from Topshop

I’ve always found t0bars on flats a little unnecessary: something about them always seems just slightly out-of proportion to my eyes, and I almost always find myself thinking I’d like them better without the extra straps. I could, however, be willing to make an exception for these ‘Marla’ flats from Topshop. The soft pink colour means the t-strap isn’t too much of a distraction, and I love the oversized flower on the toe, which helps make them one of the prettier pairs of flats I’ve seen lately.

Unusually for Topshop, these are fairly reasonably priced, too, at £28: click here to buy them.

These were one of the many pairs of shoes to steal my heart during my visit to Kurt Geiger a few weeks ago. I’ve been searching for them on the website ever since, and I was a little disappointed when I finally did, because I don’t think these photos really do them justice: in real life they were so fabulous I actually stopped in my tracks and went straight over to pick them up.

Like so many shoes right now, these have a huge heel (140mm), but the t-bar and toecap makes them a nice, daytime style with a large helping of wow-factor: they’re the kind of shoes you could get away with wearing to the office, but only if you don’t mind people staring at your feet all day. I really like the toe cap and t-bar, which combine to give them a vintage feel which would be great with wide-legged trousers and a nipped-in jacket.

These are £150 and you can click here to buy them from Kurt Geiger.

Now for something completely and utterly extravagant – and I’m not just talking about the $830 price tag! There’s just something very decadent looking about these Manolo Blahnik t-straps, which seem to hail from another era – and an altogether more glamorous one at that. I think they’d make wonderful wedding shoes, although if you really love them, you might think it’s a shame to hide them away under a long gown.

    Do you love them, though?

Moschino Cheap & Chic heart-front ‘Sandwich’ t-bar wedge sandals

moschino heart wedges Moschino Cheap & Chic heart front Sandwich t bar wedge sandalsI’m not quite sure why Moschino decided to name these shoes ‘Sandwich’, but leaving the name aside for the moment, let’s take a look at the latest in a long line of heart-decorated shoes.

On the plus side, I absolutely love the colour of these: there are those who would argue that red and green should never be seen, but I think the little red accents on this greeny-blue upper work really well. As for the rest, well, there’s something a little childlike about them, and the combination of bright colours and chunky platform may be too much for some tastes.

What do you think of these? We know they’re definitely not “cheap” at $395, but do you find them “chic”? If so, you can pick up a pair at Piperlime.

New shoes! Bright pink t-bars from Dorothy Perkins

pink t bar shoes New shoes! Bright pink t bars from Dorothy Perkins

£10 in the Dorothy Perkins’ sale. Well, I could hardly have left them there, could I?

These shoes are actually a UK size 5, and I normally wear a 4, but one thing years of shoe-hunting has taught me is that when you spot a shoe you love on the sale rack, you grab it first, and you ask questions later. That’s exactly what I did with these, and when it came time to ask questions (the question, of course, being “will they fit me?”), I was pleased to find that the answer was a resounding “yes!”. These actually fit me perfectly, which is rather strange, especially when you consider that the final pair of new shoes I have to show you this week (more on those tomorrow) are also from Dorothy Perkins, but are a size 4.

Anyway, the shoe fit, Cinderella DID go to the ball, and all was well with the world. Well, sort of: I was having a bit of a depressing day on Saturday and I’m not going to say these shoes made everything seem that little bit better, but… actually, no I AM going to say that. Whaddya know, new shoes really DO cure the blues. Especially when they’re bright pink.
