I have a bit of a soft spot for t-strap sandals, and I can imagine wearing these particular ones to death once the warmer weather comes along. Can’t you just see them with a pretty floral dress, or maybe a pair of white skinnies? Perfect.
The blush pink colour would be too delicate to wear now (or at least, it would be where I am), but if you just can’t wait, these are also available in a more winter-appropriate black, which could even be worn with tights.
These are by Steven, they’re $160 and you can click here to buy them at Shopbop.
When I was looking at the New Look website earlier today for my post about polka dot shoes, I couldn’t help but notice these:
“It’s OK,” I told myself, “I’m going to be able to resist. I mean, I don’t really need another pair of black shoes, and they look a little bit like my Kurt Geiger Ediva pumps, which I like better. My money is safe from you, New Look!”
Then I found this version:
Aaaand now I’m in trouble. Because even although I don’t need another pair of beige court shoes either (as evidenced by the second level of my shoe storage shelves), there’s just no getting away from the fact that I want them.
I love the t-bar and bow combination, and I also love the colour of these, which would be so versatile, and would work in summer or winter. They’re not real leather, but then again, they are only £27.99, and you wouldn’t really expect them to be for that price.
I’m doing my best to resist. I may or may not have added them to my Wish List, though…
These shoes have me briefly (only briefly, though, mind) wishing I still worked in an office: wouldn’t they look fabulous with a black pencil skirt or dress, a smart handbag and a little jacket? Of course, there’s nothing stopping me going for that work-wear kinda look if I want to, but luckily I think these shoes will translate well to other looks, too. The tan suede and black patent leather is such an elegant combination, and I can just as easily see these with black jeans, wide leg trousers or a whole host of other combinations.
What do you think of them? If you like them, they’re £50 at Miss Selfridge, and you can click here to buy them.
Ah, that black and cream (or black and white) colourway! It’s probably always going to be one of my favourites: there’s just something so classic about it, and when you add just the tiniest hint of gold, as in these Buffalo sandals, it becomes even more special.
As well as the two-tone uppers, these shoes also stand out because of the 4.2″ heel, and, of course, the t-bar strap:
Lovely, and one of those shoe styles that will really earn its keep, because they’re smart enough for work, or any other semi-formal occasion, but the high heel and hint of gold also makes them dressy enough for afterwards, too. Make them office-appropriate with a pencil skirt or tailored trousers, or go for a more casual look with skinny jeans and blazer, or a simple dress.
These shoes are £110 at Spartoo, and the bad news is that they’re only available in a few sizes: click here if you want to check whether yours is one of them.
One part of me loves these shoes for their two-tone upper (and in two of my favourite “tones”, too!), the t-bar fastening, and just for being a relatively simple shoe that manages to look totally unique.
The other part of me, well, hates them, and really doesn’t think they look like an $800 shoe.
I’ve no idea which part will win. Tell me how YOU feel about them instead?
Crochet and leather: it’s not a combination I’d have come up with myself, but I guess that’s why I’m not a shoe designer, because it actually works so much better than I’d have expected!
These shoes are from Aldo, and they’re called ‘Krugh’, which makes them sound a bit like they should have a minor role in Lord of the Rings or something, no? I love the t-bar, love the crocheted upper, and think these are perfect for summer. If you think so too, you can click here to buy a pair: they’re £70.
I’ve described these shoes as “cut out wedges”, purely because Moda in Pelle did, and, well, it’s their shoe, so they get to call it whatever they like. Really, though, it’s just a very chunky heel, with a very thick platform, creating that almost-wedge-but-not-quite shape. I’d be interested to know if these are as comfortable to walk in as wedges tend to be, though: that would be another point in their favour, if so.
The very chunky shape of these shoes is very much of the moment: we’ll be seeing a lot more of this kind of shape this summer, but I think Moda in Pelle have done a particularly good job here, with the bow and t-bar helping make these shoes stand out.
These are £89.95 and are also available with a snake-print upper. Click here to buy them.
Readers, meet “Henry”. Henry, readers; readers, Henry. I love it when designers give their shoes human names. It helps give them even more personality than they have already (and also makes it even harder for me to want to part with them when the time comes. I have a tendency to anthropomorphise my shoes, though. It’s probably not healthy.).
As you can see, our Henry is rather handsome. He has leather uppers topped with mirror-shine metal inserts, and he manages to look both classic and a little bit futuristic at the same time.
OK, I’ll stop referring to the shoes as “he” now. Or I’ll try, anyway.
