Firetrap ‘Phoenix’ bow court shoes in black, purple and blue

office bow court shoes Firetrap Phoenix bow court shoes in black, purple and blueA simple, suede court shoe, but of course, sometimes “simple” is exactly what you’re looking for – and if it just so happens to come with a bow on top, well, so much the better!

These little ‘Phoenix’ pumps from Office will take you just about everywhere, and come in three different colours. I’m instantly drawn to the purple, but I’ve been buying a lot of blue recently, so I suspect I could probably find some space in my closet for those, too. And, you know, you ALWAYS need a nice pair of black pumps, don’t you? Whoops! Sucked in again!

Vince Camuto’s ‘Marcia’ suede rufle pumps in purple

vince camuto marcia Vince Camutos Marcia suede rufle pumps in purpleRecognise these? Yes, it’s yet ANOTHER version of the Christian Louboutin ‘Dillian’ pumps: or, as I like to think of them, “The style that just won’t die.”

These are by Vince Camuto, and I’m rather taken with the purple suede uppers. Every time I’ve ever worn my red Matalan versions of this style, though, I’ve worn them WITHOUT the ruffle, and I suspect that would probably be the case with these, too. If you think you’d get some use out of them, though, they’re $111 from Heels.com.

Christian Louboutin Gressimo 140 green suede pumps

christian louboutin gressim Christian Louboutin Gressimo 140 green suede pumpsWell, I made it to January 7th before featuring a pair of Louboutins. I was aiming for longer than that, but seriously, can you blame me for wanting to show you these? They’re the Gressimo 140 pumps, and while the knotted design is fairly simple, and nothing we haven’t seen before, as always, Louboutin manages to take that simple style and make it that little bit better.

Naturally, I love everything about these, from the colour to the shape, and the only thing I DON’T like is the £580 price tag. These will look particularly stunning worn with a black dress, as show on the Net-a-Porter website: another one for the Wish List, methinks!

Poetic Licence ‘Holiday Delight’ peep toes

Somewhat extravagant on the flower front, but still pretty for all that, these Poetic Licence peep toes are $133 at Zappos, and available in the three colours shown above. Once again, I’d find it hard to choose between these: the shimmery blue version would be great for a party, while the red suede would make a lovely day shoe, worn with opaque tights. Overall, though, I think its the black sequined version that gets my vote: totally glam, but not too over the top, they’re definitely worth viewing in close-up, so they can be properly appreciated!

Marni suede platforms with bow and jewel detail

marni suede platforms Marni suede platforms with bow and jewel detail

Going by the toe alone, I kind of loved these Marni pumps. Well, you have to admit, the toes may as well have “Oh, hai, Shoeperwoman!” printed on them, no? They also have that rather nice “Court of Marie Antoinette” look about them, which I’ve been liking recently.

But then I looked at them from the side:

Hmmm. Not so pretty now, are they? The platform is too clumsy, the ankle strap looks out of place… With no platform (or a smaller one, that fitted the sole better) and a closed back, they could’ve been wonderful. As they are, however, my (ntirely fictional) £520 is safe. If yours isn’t, these are available from Browns.

Joan & David suede ruffle pumps

Now here’s a couple of colours we don’t often get to see on shoes! Kinda refreshing, isn’t it?

I know yellow is a perennially unpopular clothing/footwear choice for a lot of people, and it’s true that it can be hard to wear (especially in the case of clothes). I’ve always quite liked it, though, perhaps because it always instantly draws the eye, and because if you choose the right shade, it can be stunning, as well as unusual.

Needless to say, then, I really like the yellow version of these, although the turquoise is also very pretty. These are both fairly summery colours, but the shoes are also available in black, if you want to wear them now, without worrying about the mud and slush of winter. They’re $204 from Zappos.

Dsquared2 suede shoes with gold snakeskin straps

dsquared2 slingbacks Dsquared2 suede shoes with gold snakeskin strapsI tend to associate Dsquared2 with some of the more “out there” styles of footwear, but these black and gold beauties: well, they’re just absolutely gorgeous, and very elegant into the bargain. I love the black and gold mix, the slight vintage feel, and the slender, gold heel. These are glamorous and sophisticated, but not too over the top. Amazingly, they’re also on sale, down to £185 at Yoox, although sadly only available now in UK sizes 4 and 6. I’m going to pretend I didn’t notice that size 4 just happens to be MY size…

Yves Saint Laurent Tribute suede sandals in purple

YSL’s Tribute sandals have become something of a modern classic, and I don’t think it’s too hard to see why. This purple version of the style has just become available at Net-a-Porter, although at the not-exactly-wallet-friendly price of £685. I think the colour is absolutely glorious, the price less so; luckily, though, we’ve seen lots of high street versions of this shoe already, so hopefully it won’t be too long before a more affordable interpretation pops up somewhere!
