There are four words in the description of these shoes that made them guaranteed to appear on Shoeperwoman.com sooner or later. Those words are: Valentino, red, bow, studs. Any one of those on their own would be enough to make me take a second look, but put them all together, and what do you get? Well, you get these shoes, of course! They’re actually pretty understated for studded shoes, but that’s no bad thing when it comes to shoes you’ll wear until they fall apart. And pay $845 for.
It’s rare for me to find a flat shoe which makes me want to stop and take a longer look, as opposed to simply scrolling past, so when I do, I have to show you them! These ones are by Aldo, and for a style of shoe that doesn’t normally hold much interest for me, these actually have quite a few different features designed to grab the attention: the blue upper, the gold studs, the little red and white rosette, topped with a bronze button… these are shoes with a whole lot of personality, and it’s not often I get to say that about a pair of flats!
These are £40, and are also available in black: click here to buy them from Aldo.
I thought I’d show you something a little different for this week’s Friday Fix, so instead of the usual, fancy stiletto, here’s a rock-chick kinda boot instead!
Now, I’ve never been much of a one for boots. Sure, I own more than my fair share of them, but I don’t get excited over them the way some people do, and I’ve always thought that even the nicest pair of boots out there aren’t even half as beautiful as the nicest pair of shoes, but here I am, lusting over my second pair of Louboutin boots in the space of just a few weeks!
These are very different from the Vicky Botta boots, of course, but although they’re far from my usual style, I really like them, and think they’d be the perfect footwear for casual, wintry outfits – just add a pair of black skinnies and a beat-up leather jacket, and you’re done! You’re also $2,295 poorer, mind you, which is the bad news in all of this, and the reason I’ll be looking out for a high-street version!
If you’d like to buy these, meanwhile, you can click here to get them from Neiman Marcus.
Thanks to whoever was responsible for naming these TUK shoes, I’m now going to have The Sex Pistols’ “Pretty Vacant” stuck in my head all day long. And because they say a problem shared is a problem halved, I’ve decided to pass this particular ear worm onto you, courtesy of this post. You’re welcome.
As for the shoes themselves, well, these check a lot of boxes for me, from the eye-popping colour to the the little bow on the front. It’s the studs which really make these shoes for me, though: they add a bit of a twist to the classic “bow on the toe” shape, and this particular combination (bows and studs) is one I always find hard to resist!
If you like the look, but not the colour, however, these are also available in black. They’re £71, and you can click here to buy a pair from Spartoo.
The Kirkwood-esque style of the platform on these shoes may not endear them to some of you, but it was the very thing that attracted me to them when they popped up on the River Island website last week. Without the studs, these would’ve veered dangerously close to “Barbie” territory: with them… well, actually, there’s still pretty close to “Barbie” territory, aren’t they? They’re in the same county, at the very least, and possibly even in the same town. If that bothers you, however, there’s also a dark green, croc-effect version (I know: green shoes which HAVEN’T been featured here! They actually look more black than green to me, though, so there’s why).
While we’re on the subject of River Island and pink, by the way, look at this:
I know, it’s not a shoe, which makes this a totally gratuitous addition to this post, but I love it. Sadly, I can’t wear this shade of pink because it looks horrendous on me, but there is also a black version. Which, just to bring this back on topic (vaguely) would look great with the pink shoes. Or, you know, ANY shoes….
How do you make a plain pair of black thigh-high boots stand out?
Well, to be honest, I don’t think you really need to try to make them stand out: they have a way of doing that all by themselves. If you really want to give them that little something extra, though, this would be the way to do it:
Yup, those be spikes. Big ones. I couldn’t love them any more if I tried, because when I looked at the smaller photo, I thought they were crystals, and I was a bit “meh”, about the idea. Spikes, though? Spikes are sometimes the way to a Shoeper heart, and this would appear to be one of those times.
They’re not the way to a Shoeper Wallet, unfortunately, at £1285, but if that sounds fine to you, click here to buy a pair!
When I think about the shoe embellishments I love, skulls aren’t normally first on the list. Or even second or third.
Somehow, though, when it’s an Alexander McQueen skull, it makes all the difference. The decoration isn’t the only thing I like about these shoes – there’s also the bright blue colour, the row of studs along the sole, the slightly thicker-than-usual heel – but it does help them turn from a lovely pair of shoes into ones with just a little bit of an edge.
Unfortunately, it’s a pretty expensive edge at £1,195: click here to buy them.
Studs! And spikes! They’re two of Shoeperwoman’s favourite, shoe-related things, and here they are, combined in one shoeper package from Buffalo.
I’m actually a little late to the party on these, because I’m finding them only now that they’ve made it to the sale section at Sarenza. They are still available in a few different sizes, though, so your luck could just be in, and if it is, I think these could make a great twist on the classic black pump. Because the studs and spikes are the same colour as the uppers, these are a little less “punk” than some of their spiked counterparts, and its really only when you see them up close that you realise they’re far from ordinary. This means they’d give a nice, unexpected twist to an office outfit, or classic dress.
Oh, you want to see what they look like from the side? Well, who am I to deny you?
