Remember the Louise Goldin for Topshop shoes I showed you a few months ago? Well, they’re finally available in-store and online, and although the designs are a little less extreme than the prototypes, they’re still pretty amazing.

The shoes you see above are all available on the Topshop website, and are retailing for £150 each. I know a lot of people have been desperately waiting for these to be released, so I wouldn’t expect they’ll be in stock for long: if you want a pair, better be quick!

What do you think of them?

Naught Monkey yellow ‘Fiesta’ pumps

Like orange, yellow has been starting to pop up here and there in the shoe world and these citrus colours are going to be particularly welcome at the end of this long, hard winter. These Naughty Monkey sandals have a fair amount of studding on them, which I would imagine will make some of you cry “Not AGAIN?!” but I like ‘em: the studs add a little something to these shoes, and the cheeky hint of snake-print helps, too.

They’re $79.95 from Nordstrom.

What: Christian Louboutin ‘Mad Mary’ studded pumps
When: Saturday, January 30, 2010
Where: A friend’s birthday drinks in a local bar
With: Purple dress, ASOS.com, black tights

Did you think I’d forgotten all about my Shoeper Shoe Challenge?

I promise I didn’t: I did actually get through a few different pairs of shoes last week, but the week was so busy I didn’t have time to photograph them, which, of course, means they don’t count! D’oh!

Anyway! Here is the first installment of the challenge, and after all of the trouble I went to to get my Mad Mary pumps in the first place, I figured it was only right that they should be the first pair of shoes I “rescued” by wearing them! As luck would have it, an opportunity to do just that presented it in the form of a friend’s birthday drinks on Saturday night, so the Mad Marys were GO!

I wore them with a purple dress from ASOS.com, and suspected I’d be the most overdressed person in the room, as usual, but as it turned out, I needn’t have worried, because people were wearing everything from jeans to sequined mini dresses!

These shoes are lots of fun to wear, and, of all of my shoes, are the ones that seem to get most attention: they always get lots of comments, and I’ve bonded with many a fellow shoe-lover who’s come over and asked me about them, so I guess they’re a good conversation-starter too.

So, one pair down, seventy pairs to go!

How’s everyone else getting on with their challenge?

Kurt Geiger ‘Ella’ stud toe court shoes

The studs on the toe of these shoes have a bit of a coy look about them, somehow. It’s as if the shoe is saying, “Look, I know everyone’s a bit fed up with suds now, but can I just try to squeeze these ones under the radar? There are only a few of them, and I promise I won’t get any more! So, can I? Can I?”

Well, can they, readers? I’d probably be hard-ass about this and say “no”, because this whole look just isn’t working for me, but what about you? If you’d allow them into your life, they’re £220 at Kurt Geiger.

Call me crazy (Note: please don’t!) but it was actually the orange version of this shoe that pulled me in, and I’m still liking it now. And I say this as someone who doesn’t own a single item of orange clothing or footwear, and would have happily kept it that way forever more.

If you’re not so keen on the orange, though (and granted, it won’t be for everyone), these are also available in purple and black, and are a nice pair of plain pumps, with just that single line of studs along the sole to make them a bit more interesting. They’re £35 from Dorothy Perkins.

I’m bored with boots. By the time January rolls around, I’m sick to death of winter, and ready to cast aside the warm clothes and knee high boots for something a little more summery. Actually, who am I kidding: by the time SEPTMBR rolls around I’m sick to death of winter, but sadly for me, there’s still a good few months of it left to get through, which means boots are still high on the agenda.

If I MUST wear boots, then, I think I like the look of these ones by Kurt Geiger. They’re simple enough to wear every day, but with that little row of studs on the sole to bring them up to date and stop them being too plain. I’d still prefer a pair of sexy sandals, though…

Finally, a pair of shoes with the power to change my mind about feathers! Even I have to admit that the feathers on Jimmy Choo’s ‘Mable’ sandals add a certain something to look, and while I’d quibble with the description of them as “biker” sandals – a scattering of studs does not a “biker” shoe make – I think they’re rather wonderful. At $1,295, though, I can only assume that the feathers came from the Dodo – ouch!

ASOS ‘Lara’ cap toe ballerina pumps

cap-toe-ballet-pumpsLately I’ve been craving a pair of cap-toed ballet flats. There are lots of these available at the moment, and I had been planning to go for something fairly classic… but then I discovered these ‘Lara’ flats at ASOS and found myself being swayed once again by the studs. (And the gold. I’m partial to a gold shoe.) They’re a nice twist on a classic style, and they’re also only £22, which is more good news. These are also available with a snake print upper (Which I HATE – it’s amazing the difference colour can make to a shoe!) but if you like the style, but not the colour, ASOS’s ‘Lyra’ flats are the same price, but have a more traditional look:

Faith ‘Reflex’ studded flat boots

faith-studded-flat-bootsOh great: one glance at the product name of these boots and I get to walk around with Duran Duran’s ‘The Reflex’ stuck in my head all day. Thanks, Faith!

Name aside, I love these boots. Yes, they’re studded, and yes, that makes them “bang on trend” (urgh), but I actually think these will stand the test of time fairly easily, and become a “go-to” winter boot, worn with everything from dresses to jeans, until they start to look all scruffy. They’re also the kind of boots that look like they’ll only get better with age, which is always a good thing in my book.

Now, sing it with me, folks: “The reflex! Is an only chiiiilld! He’s waiting in the paarrk….”

Faith ‘Coa’ suede effect court shoes

faith-coa-shoes

Studs AND flowers? My, Faith are certainly pulling out all the stops in the “Bang on trend” stakes! All that’s missing is a platform, and they’d be as trendy as it gets!

While some studded shoes will undoubtedly start to look dated in a year (or maybe even less), though, I think these ones are a relatively safe choice. Perhaps it’s that very lack of a platform that does it, but they actually have a fairly timeless shape, with only the sprinkling of studs giving a nod towards the current season. I really like them, particularly in grey, and the price isn’t too bad either – they’re £50 at Faith.
