Wait. Stop. That sentence makes me sound like a complete and utter control freak, doesn’t it? Hopefully the fact that it took me about six months to decide to do that will speak for the fact that I’m not quite as bad as I may sound. Also, I do have a life, I promise: it’s just that, well, I like things neat. Now, where was I? Oh yes:
When I finished colour-coding the collection, I banned myself from buying any more pairs of black shoes for the foreseeable future. “Amber,” I told myself, “You won’t need to buy black shoes for years now. YEARS. Because look at them all!” And it’s true, I have a lot of black shoes already. I don’t have a studded pair, though. With a bow on the top. And as I look at these ones by Boutique 9, I find that I suddenly want a pair of studded peep toes with a bow on the front. Oh yes I do. I don’t know, maybe I could get them in white instead?
After all, I don’t actually have ANY white shoes right now, so THAT wouldn’t be against the “rules” would it?
(I really want the black ones, though. I bet they’d look fantastic with black skinnies. I could even wear them with tights in the winter!)

I’ve never been particularly fond of the word “fierce” as used to describe shoes, but in this case I think it’s the only word to use, because these? Are fierce.
Taking the sharp, studded look, and wrapping it all the way around the sole of the shoe, DSquared have certainly made sure that anyone who gets in your way while you’re wearing these will live to regret it: step on someone’s toe in these and you’ll run the risk of doing a fair bit of damage. Actually, in MY case, I’d probably ALSO do a fair bit of damage to my house, my legs, anything else I happened to be wearing at the time… you get the picture. That’s not the ONLY reason I won’t be buying these (there’s the small matter of them costing $1,291 to consider, plus the fact that they don’t look like they’re worth anything like that much), but if they’re exactly what you’ve been waiting for all your life, you can buy a pair from the DSquared2 online shop.
If Elvis was somehow reincarnated as a woman’s shoe (No, I haven’t had a bump on the head, just go with me on this one…), I’m pretty sure this is more or less what he’d look like: all studs and denim (for yes, that’s white denim on the uppers) and “look at me!” attitude. OK, maybe not Elvis. Maybe these are just the reincarnation-in-shoe-form of a country singer with a great love of denim.
Whatever you think they look like, the facts are that they’re by Dolce Vita, they’re $240, and they’re available at Saks. Just try not to wear them with double-denim and a cowboy hat…

I hate the fashion-related use of the word “fierce”, though, so instead all I’ll say is “wow!”. I’m actually not sure whether that’s an admiring “wow” or a “wow” of horror, though: these are definitely amazing to look at, but I think I’d rather keep on looking at them rather than actually wear them.

I didn’t give these boots a second glance when they first appeared on the River Island website, but last weekend I spotted a girl wearing them while I was out shopping, and found myself walking around doing that “trying not to look like I’m staring at your shoes, even although I’m totally staring at your shoes” thing. Is it just me who does that?
Anyway, I can report that these boots are far more awesome in real life that they appear to be in this image: they have a fabulous slouchy, lived-in look which I really like, and they manage to be casual but stunning, which isn’t an easy thing to achieve. Of course, it may well have helped that their wearer was tall, gorgeous and looked like an off-duty model (she was wearing them with simple black leggings, long line top and cardigan), but hey they made ME take a second look, anyway. Diane Kruger can generally be relied upon to bring something a little bit edgier to the party (or, in this case, to the red carpet), and these Emilio Pucci heels aren’t your typical red carpet shoe. Pretty please?” But nope, much of the fashion world is still firmly entrenched in the “studs with everything” philosophy, and no one more so than Azzedine Alaia, whose studded platforms are shown above.
Now, I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m reminded of London’s famous Pearly Kings and Queens:
