    Zara sandals, £39.99

    I don’t like flat sandals.

I know many people consider them to be a summer staple, but any pair I try on always instantly remind me of the kind of sandals I’d have worn as a little girl, and go straight back on the shelf. They may be comfortable, and great for hot days, but I think I’ll stick to ballet flats and wedges and leave the sandals to those of you who can really do them justice.

If I WAS going to buy a pair of flat sandals, however, these are the ones I’d go for. There’s nothing childish about the gold studs that cover the uppers, and the nude colour would make them very easy to wear. In fact, despite being a category of shoe that I’ve always more or less ignored in the past, I have to admit that I can actually see myself wearing these: maybe not frequently, exactly, but I’d definitely be willing to give them a go: who knows, I might even come to love them!

  2. Studded suede court shoes from River Island

I think it’s safe to say that the staff at my local River Island’s shoe department are going to be seeing rather a lot of me this summer. More so than usual, I mean. Hey, maybe I should take them out for a drink or something, as a thank you for all those times they’ve patiently allowed me to drool over their stock?

These shoes actually aren’t on my wishlist right now, but I thought they were worth showing you anyway, because they’ve obviously taken a bit of a beating from the “designer inspiration stick” – we’ve seen that studded toe, chunky sole and ankle strap on a few shoes lately, and RI have wrapped it all up into one £69.99 package.

What do you think of the result? I want to love it, but if I’m totally honest, I think I’d probably love it a whole lot more WITHOUT the studs and straps. If you love these just the way they are, however, just click here to buy yourself a pair.

  3. Penny Loves Kenny suede two-tone ‘Tetra’ pumps with studs

Aaaaaand we’re back! Did everyone have a good Christmas (assuming, of course, that you celebrate it)? Did you find any new pairs of shoes under the tree?

I figured most of you are probably all Christmas-ed out after the last few days (I know I am), so today I bring you a shoe that’s neither red nor green nor glitter-covered, or, indeed, in any way “festive”. Think if it as the calm in the middle of the Christmas-New Year storm.

That’s not, of course, to say that this shoe doesn’t have charms of its own. Penny Loves Kenny isn’t a brand I’ve featured here before, but it’s one I’ll definitely be keeping a closer eye on, now that I’ve seen this vision of blue and grey loveliness. The cool blue and grey upper is very welcome after the sequin-storm we’ve been living through this month, and the studs on the toe amp it up a little (and also remind me of another shoe, which I just can’t quite place at the moment. Any ideas?).

So, I have to ask: we know Penny Loves Kenny, but do YOU love Penny Loves Kenny?

These are also available in black and brown, and are $89.99 at Heels.com. Click here to buy them.
