Aldo ‘Maedke’ wedge heel suede shoe boots

aldo wedge shoe boots Aldo Maedke wedge heel suede shoe boots

Aldo is fast becoming one of those websites I have to deliberately try to restrict my access to, because I never seem to get out of there without having first of all had to talk myself out of buying another pair of shoes/boots I can’t actually afford.

Today’s temptation came from these suede wedge ‘Maedke’ shoe boots. I’ve loved this style since last winter, and it’s a love that hasn’t diminished with time. The wedge heel and pointed toe give an otherwise plain shoe boot a new lease of life, and create a very modern silhouette which is simple, but with plenty of impact. The suede, of course, will make these suitable for drier winter climates only, but if you’re currently enjoying some cool, crisp Autumn days, these could be a good buy.

They’re £80: click here to buy them.

Zara tan wedge heeled shoe boots

As regular readers will know, the colour tan is one of my shoe-related weaknesses: it makes such a great neutral, and while I’m particularly fond of the shade during summer, it also works well on winter boots, as these wedge shoe boots from Zara prove.

The sheer simplicity of these shoes is what makes them work so well, in my opinion. The uppers are streamlined and elegant, and the slimline wooden heel is the perfect compliment to the tan leather. Excellent with jeans and trousers, these cost £59.99 and you can click here to buy a pair from the new Zara website.

Office ‘Frilly’ purple suede shoe boots

office frilly purple suede shoes Office Frilly purple suede shoe bootsI’m a little bit obsessed with purple at the moment. In fact, I get obsessed with purple at around about this time every year: there’s just something very warm and wintry about it, and it works so well with the darker shades of clothes so many of us tend to be drawn to as the colder weather set in.

These ‘Frilly’ boots by Office have a lovely, almost vintage look to them: I love the covered buttons and the lattice front, and think they’d look great with wide-leg trousers or a pencil skirt. If you don’t share my love of the colour purple, they’re also available in black: click here to buy them from Office.

    Whoa, mama!

Well, at least no one would ever stand on your toes while you were wearing these, would they? Not more than once, anyway.

They’re KG by Kurt Geiger’s ‘Electric’ shoe boots, and they’re the proof that the shoe world isn’t done with studs and spikes quite yet. Are you done with them, though? If the answer to that is “nope, never!” you can click here to buy them at Selfridges for £180.

lace up shoe boots from new look Lace up shoe boots from New Look in navy and black

This winter, I’ve decided I’m going to be needing a pair of shoe boots. I’d already kind of set my heart on Aldo’s ‘Narain’, but one colour is never enough (no matter how versatile it is), so these lace up faux suede boots from New Look are also looking good – and considerably cheaper, as you’d expect given the textile uppers. No, they probably won’t last too long, especially in wet weather, but I was impressed by the fact that they’re available in navy as well as black: navy boots are still pretty rare, and it’s a colour I wear a lot, so top marks to New Look for that.

I also, however, like the ankle boot version:

Givenchy Platform Shoe Boots in Nude and Black

givenchy nude platform shoe boots Givenchy Platform Shoe Boots in Nude and BlackI realise this is the second pair of nude (on me) shoe boots I’ve shown you recently, but please indulge my current obsession with this style: my mind has started to turn to winter, and these are just much too lovely to ignore.

They’re by Givenchy, and they’re also lovely in black: I think these would be perfect with a pair of 40s-style trousers, or something equally tailored: they have a kind of understated glamour about them that’s very appealing, especially when winter rolls around.

The downside, of course, is the price: these are $795 at Barneys.

Aldo ‘Narain’ high heeled lace-up shoe boots

    by

aldo narain nude shoe boots Aldo Narain high heeled lace up shoe bootsThere’s no point denying it any longer: winter is steadily drawing in (in fact, where I’m from, it never really left) and pretty soon I’m going to have to cast aside all of my pretty peep toes and strappy sandals and slip into something more sensible. So, what’s it going to be?

Well, personally I’d love to carry my obsession with nude shoes (and, just for clarification, when I say “nude” here, I mean “on me” – I know these wouldn’t look “nude” on every skin tone) through to winter, and these ‘Narain’ shoe boots look like the perfect way to do it. In fact, everything about these is perfect: the shape is simple and elegant, the colour will go with everything, and they’re slimline enough to work with both trousers, jeans, skirts or dresses.

Another one for the wish list, I think: get them at Aldo.
