Jade satin ‘Alana’ shoes from Monsoon

Monsoon say these ‘Alana’ peep toes of theirs would be “perfect with a party dress”. Well, they won’t get any argument from me there: and hey, any excuse to buy a new dress is a good excuse as far as I’m concerned! As “party” shoes go, though, these ones are particularly delicious, and the rosette detail on the toe makes them look a little bit like they’ve been gift wrapped. I can’t think of many better gifts than a pair of shoes: if you’d like to treat yourself to these ones, they’re £55 and you can buy them here.

Faith ‘Clippy’ court shoes with zips

Yeah, I know: it’s a ruffle with a zip on it. Haven’t seen THAT before, have we?

Sarcasm aside, the “ruffle-trimmed-with-a-zip” look doesn’t seem to be going anywhere fast, and more than one shoe designer seems to have wholly abandoned themselves to it lately. Faith are the latest brand aboard the bandwagon, with these ‘Clippy’ court shoes, and as much as I’m starting to find the zip/ruffle thing a little bit tired, I just can’t dislike these: not when they’re bright blue, suede, and cute. (And the black’s not bad either.) These also come with another benefit: a heel which is that bit lower than the usual skyscrapers, although it’s still not exactly what you’d call “low”.

Like them? If you do, they’re £55 from here.

Vince Camuto’s ‘Marcia’ suede rufle pumps in purple

vince camuto marcia Vince Camutos Marcia suede rufle pumps in purpleRecognise these? Yes, it’s yet ANOTHER version of the Christian Louboutin ‘Dillian’ pumps: or, as I like to think of them, “The style that just won’t die.”

These are by Vince Camuto, and I’m rather taken with the purple suede uppers. Every time I’ve ever worn my red Matalan versions of this style, though, I’ve worn them WITHOUT the ruffle, and I suspect that would probably be the case with these, too. If you think you’d get some use out of them, though, they’re $111 from Heels.com.

Matalan ruffle zip detail peep toe shoes

matalan ruffle shoes1 Matalan ruffle zip detail peep toe shoesI know what you’re thinking, and yes, you’re right: we’ve been here before, with the ruffle, and the zips and, oh, pretty much the whole shoe. What’s the difference? Well, the main difference between these shoes and the ruffle/zip shoes I’ve shown you in the past, is that these ones only cost £16. Not bad, eh?

Now, red or teal: what’s your poison?

Faith ‘Ceramone’ black patent pumps with ruffle

Remember Christian Louboutin’s ‘Lady Page’ shoes? I certainly do – well, I spent enough time licking the screen at the sight of them to make sure I wouldn’t forget them!

These ‘Ceramone’ shoes from Faith aren’t quite close enough to count as Shoe Deja Vu, but the Louboutins were the first thing that popped into my head when I looked at them (Mind you, Louboutins are quite often the first thing to pop into my mind), so I suspect some degree of designer inspiration may have gone on here.

Having spent a good couple of years making shoes with red soles, Faith seem to have switched to purple for these shoes, perhaps in a bid to play up the differences between this and the designer shoe. It makes a nice change, anyway, and the sole has a rather nice metallic sheen to it too, which you can’t quite see  in this image.

For a closer look, or to buy them (they’re £65), go here.

Joan & David suede ruffle pumps

Now here’s a couple of colours we don’t often get to see on shoes! Kinda refreshing, isn’t it?

I know yellow is a perennially unpopular clothing/footwear choice for a lot of people, and it’s true that it can be hard to wear (especially in the case of clothes). I’ve always quite liked it, though, perhaps because it always instantly draws the eye, and because if you choose the right shade, it can be stunning, as well as unusual.

Needless to say, then, I really like the yellow version of these, although the turquoise is also very pretty. These are both fairly summery colours, but the shoes are also available in black, if you want to wear them now, without worrying about the mud and slush of winter. They’re $204 from Zappos.

Ruffle detail court shoes from Matalan

matalan ruffle shoes Ruffle detail court shoes from MatalanGod bless, Matalan.  I mean, seriously: where else would you find such cute little shoes, for just £14?

I’ve just spent the last few minutes looking at these and thinking, “I like the teal best! No! The purple! Then again, the black is pretty cute, too… Hmmm.” I’ve come to the conclusion that I like all of them equally, and given that you could BUY all of them for just £42, I think I see what Matalan’s game is here. Damn them.

Which would you go for, if any?

Carvela ‘Guest’ satin sandals in pink and black

carvella guest Carvela Guest satin sandals in pink and blackLooks like Carvela have taken the ruffle trend to new heights: literally.

It really has been the year of the ankle in the shoe world, with almost every style out there having a high, chunky ankle strap added to it at some point. I know this a look a lot of you have hated, feeling that only those with the slimmest possible ankles and calves can pull it off. I don’t necessarily think that’s true, but I do think the look has been taken too far with this particular shoe, which looks vaguely comical to me – for some reason, ruffles like this always look like a moustaches to me, and, well, a moustache isn’t high on the list of things I look for in my shoes.

Anyway, thhat’s just me. If you like these, they’re £110 at Debenhams.
