I know Valentino like to stick to the same kind of style with some of their shoes, but I can’t help but love them for it, because it happens to be a style I wholeheartedly approve of!
These peep-toe rosette pumps are just stunning: the pale pink colour is delicate and lovely, while the over-sized rose on the toe adds just the right amount of extravagance. Perfect for a special occasion, or even for a bride (look, I’m doing best to justify the $795 price, OK?), you can click here to buy them from Neiman Marcus: or even just to admire them from afar. I know I will.
I couldn’t decide which colour I liked these Poetic Licence shoes in best, so I’m showing you them all (with the exception of the black versions, which I’m sure you can picture for yourselves, even if you can’t be bothered clicking through to Endless.com to take a look at them) and letting you decide for yourselves.
There’s something very decadent about these shoes, somehow: I think it’s the bright colour mixes and the satin uppers, combined with the little flower-topped rosettes. I can imagine them being worn with brightly coloured ball gowns, in the court of some foreign prince, but that’s probably just me getting carried away again.
Which is your favourite colour? On reflection, I think I’d definitely go for the yellow….
These shoes aren’t a new style – they’ve actually been around for a while, but that’s done nothing to dull my enthusiasm for them. With a “back to front” wedge heel, the shape of these shoes is so distinctive, and also a little more elegant than many wedges. The bright red colour is also a big attraction here (although they’re also available in black), and the suede rosette on the toe is the perfect finishing touch.
Unusual, but not so much that they’d be hard to wear because of it, these are £75 at Dollydagger.
You know, despite loving a lot of their work (and, er, hating a lot of it, too), I don’t actually own a pair of shoes by Irregular Choice. I feel like that’s something I should rectify, and while I don’t think these ‘Pep In Your Step’ shoes are going to be The Ones (they’re a little too chunky for my taste, although that’s part of the appeal with this style), I do like to look at them. That over-sized rosette on the toe is the main attraction for me, but I’m also keen on the polka dots, and the fact that they come in two of my favourite colours, red and navy.
I’ve actually shown you these shoes before, in white, as part of a bridal shoe roundup. I make no apologies for showing you them again, though, because:
a) They’re absolutely stunning
and
b) When I last featured them here, I was bemoaning the fact that they were only available in white, and looked very definitely “bridal”. Now, however, they’re available in this lovely shade of blue, they’re still stunning, and I want them even more than I did a few months ago. At $154, they’re not too expensive, either. Get them at Zappos.
It’s not often that you find sequins adorning a shoe with a mid-height heel. Flats, yes. High heels? Definitely. But the mid heel is often forgotten when it comes to glamour, and while these are actually higher than they look, at 3″, I thought those of you who prefer something a little lower (but not too low) than the towering stilettos we usually see in the “evening” section might appreciate them. I actually appreciate them myself: Valentino very rarely gets it wrong, and these shoes are no exception: if only they weren’t £545!
Just by looking at these shoes, you can tell that a large amount of workmanship has gone into making them, and I’m assuming that’s what justifies the $915 price tag. While, individually, the flowers are beautiful, though, I think this is yet another case of “too many embellishments spoil the shoe”, and I think these would’ve worked better with even just a few less flowers. I suspect these may just be one of those “Marmite” styles, however – i.e. you’ll either love them or hate them, so if you fall into the former category, you can head over to Saks and buy a pair.
Studs AND flowers? My, Faith are certainly pulling out all the stops in the “Bang on trend” stakes! All that’s missing is a platform, and they’d be as trendy as it gets!
While some studded shoes will undoubtedly start to look dated in a year (or maybe even less), though, I think these ones are a relatively safe choice. Perhaps it’s that very lack of a platform that does it, but they actually have a fairly timeless shape, with only the sprinkling of studs giving a nod towards the current season. I really like them, particularly in grey, and the price isn’t too bad either – they’re £50 at Faith.
