As much as I love the bright yellow Tory Burch dress Hilary Swank is wearing in this photo, I have to admit that my eyes went right to her shoes:

These shoes are also by Tory Burch, and are the ‘Tarlen’ rope wedges. I’m not quite sure what to make of them, to be honest. I always appreciate a shoe that’s a little different from all the rest, and these definitely fall into that category: the rope also gives them a vaguely nautical feel, which is almost always guaranteed to win my affection. But, I don’t know, there’s something standing in the way of my unreserved love for them, and no, it’s not the $295 price tag. (Although that too, obviously.)

Even although I’m currently on the hunt for a pair of comfortable, casual wedges to take on holiday with me this summer, I probably wouldn’t have given Steve Madden’s ‘Fauntain’ a second look, were it not for the photo of them being worn, which proved that the “natural” colour could just  be the perfect nude to match my pale legs!

When it comes to canvas wedges, I’m looking for something super-versatile that won’t weigh down my suitcase, and will work with every item of clothing inside it. So far, these fit the bill, and the fact that they have a pretty little flower on the front is just the icing on the, er, shoe.

Well, I think my internet connection is working again, but then, I thought that yesterday, too, only for it to drop out just as I was about to publish a post here. And then when I came back to that post today? The shoes I was going to show you were sold out. Gah. Blame Virgin Media, folks: I certainly am!

Anyway, rather than write lots and lots of words only to lose them again, I’m going to let you fill in the blanks yourself about these rope mules from River Island. You know the drill by now: “Blah, blah, nautical, blah blah, peep toe, blah blah, want them, etc.” All I’ll add to this is that although I know a lot of people find high heeled mules difficult to walk in, I personally really like them, and consider them to be a bit of a summer staple.
