Roberto Cavalli feather embellished t-bar sandals

roberto cavalli feather sandals Roberto Cavalli feather embellished t bar sandalsAt last, a pair of feather-embellished shoes I can really love – not least because the feather on these Roberto Cavalli sandals isn’t actually real, but is leather embellished with Swarovski crystals. In fact, that feather is a work of art all on its own, and is well worth a closer look, so I recommend heading over to Net-a-Porter and taking advantage of their “zoom” function to see it in all its glory!

As for the shoes themselves, well, take away the feather and you’d be left with a simple but elegant pair of silver sandals, of the kind that will easily see you through as many evenings out as you want them to. It’s a good job, too, because at £730 you’re going to have to wear them a lot of times to get your money’s worth!

Roberto Cavalli spider-web suede sandals

roberto cavalli suede sanda Roberto Cavalli spider web suede sandalsProbably not a great choice for any arachnophobia out there, these Roberto Cavalli suede sandals are designed to look like a giant spider web spread over the top of the foot.

The spidery effect is diminished somewhat by the color of these shoes: had they been black, they’d have had a very gothic feel to them, and would have run the risk of looking like part of a Halloween costume, but in this light grey, the spiderweb could easily be taken for a more generic pattern, although they’re still nicely unsual.

Like them? You can buy a pair at Net-a-Porter.

Roberto Cavalli chain detail gold sandals

robrto cavali chain detail Roberto Cavalli chain detail gold sandalsWow, they really weren’t joking about the “chain detail” on these, were they? When you see those words in a product description, you can usually expect a small chain (or picture of one) somewhere on the shoe in question, but these look more like the kind of thing you’d use to lock up the family silver if you were feeling really, really paranoid.

Are they the kind of thing you’d want to drape around your ankles, though, like some kind of designer shoe-wearing salve girl? If so, they’re £725 at Net-a-Porter.

Roberto Cavalli suede ankle boots with curved heels

Well, if the last pair of boots I showed you vaguely reminded me of a chair, these ones definitely do (albeit it’s the arm of the chair, not the leg I’m thinking of this time. I’ve talked a lot about chairs today, haven’t I?). And also a boat. So… a boat that is also a chair, then. Or actually, hold on a minute: is it actually the bannister of a stair I’m thinking of? Some other kind of carved woodwork? God, I’m confused. I haven’t had enough coffee for this…

Let’s just stick to what we DO know, then: they’re boots. Ankle boots. They’re suede. They’re by Roberto Cavalli. They cost $1364 at Zappos. I think the image of them above would make a very nice print, maybe if you had one of those cool, open-plan lofts or something. Are they a success as boots, though? I’ll leave that one up to you to ponder…
