That beaded heel is pretty spectacular, although it’s much less obvious than some of the other embellished heels we see from the likes of Miu Miu and Prada. The detail is carried through to the platform sole, which is topped off by a lace upper, complete with flower. Beautiful but pricey, these are £1,039 at Far Fetch.

I think ‘Flowerboing’ is going to be my Word of the Week. Flowerboing. It’s great, isn’t it? I am a little confused by it, though: I mean, obviously I can see where the “flower” part comes from, but the “boing”? Is it because the ankle strap looks like a spring? I have no idea, and I suspect I’ve probably spent too long thinking about it, so let’s look at the shoes, shall we?

These shoes are actually hard NOT to look at. They have more flowers on them than I’ve ever seen on a piece of footwear, and that’s a couple of dozen flowers too many for me, although I might change my mind if I were to see them on a foot. These are super-expensive at $1,195, but it does look like a lot of work has gone into creating them. Does that justify the price, do you think? If so, get them at Bergdorf Goodman.

Don’t you just hate it when you find a pair of shoes that are perfect in every single way… but one? I love almost everything about these Rene Caovilla sandals, but the one thing I don’t like is something of a deal-breaker: it’s that fussy little metal heel sticking out of the bottom of the “wedge”. Now, granted, metal heels are one of my personal pet hates, so perhaps other people will be able to look past it to the beautiful shoe beyond. I’d have loved these even more with a different heel, but if this one works for you, you can pick up a pair here, for £365.

The front of these shoes may not be much to write home about, but hey, look at those soles! Not only is the platform studded with crystals, the sole itself is a shimmery silver which is really rather special. And I know, I know: no one would even see them once they were on, but you’d know they were there, and sometimes it’s these little details that make a shoe.

Sadly, in this case, I don’t think the unusual sole is enough to warrant the $1,295 price tag. As I said, the satin part of the shoe is just very ordinary looking to me, and not even the bling at the bottom is going to lift these into the thousand-dollar-shoe category for me. If they do it for you, though, you can buy a pair at Bergdorf Goodman.

I’ve criticised shoes in the past for reminding me too much of lingerie. These Rene Caovilla sandals ALSO make me think of lingerie, but this time in a good way. A really good way. In fact, they’re just delicious, aren’t they? They have a real “boudoir” feel to them: if I owned them I think I’d want to wear them around the house , paired with a silk negligee and a glass of chilled champagne. Decadent, feminine and, well, just sex-on-a-stiletto, basically, the 790 price tag will unfortunately prevent that little scenario ever being played out Chez Shoeper, but if you think they’re worth it, you can buy them here.

Rene Caovilla shiny knee-high boots

These have to be one of the least practical looking pairs of boots I’ve seen. Made from leather, satin, and little, shiny pieces of metal, I have no idea where you’d wear them – the shiny legs suggest they’re designed for evening wear, but the leather toes seem to jar with that, and to be honest, I don’t tend to want to wear knee boots with my party dresses – not even if they’re covered in something that looks like sequins.

That could just me, though – if you have the right place to wear these, you’ll find them at Yoox.com, where they’re £490.
