Shoe Save # 3/100: OMG, Flats!

red polka dot flats Shoe Save # 3/100: OMG, Flats!

SHOES: Red Buffalo polka dot flats (c/o Spartoo) [available here]
OUTFIT (not photographed): Citizens of Humanity jeans (c/o Shopbop); H&M stripe top; New Look camel jacket

Well, I’m only three days into the Challenge, and here I am wearing flats: it’s like I’m a whole different person, no? OK, maybe not: they are red flats, after all. With bows. And polka dots. Still, flats they are, and the fact that you’re seeing them on my feet (and out of doors, into the bargain) is a clear sign that today was a day in which I did nothing more exciting than walking the dog, and running some errands en route. And I haven’t been feeling great today, so I wore my standard “casual” uniform in which to do it: skinny jeans, stripey sweater, blogger bun. Some days you just want no-fuss comfort, don’t you?

These shoes are by Buffalo, and this was actually their first outing. It was enough to tell me that I may have to snip the elastic at the heel, because it didn’t take long for it to start to rub: a problem I often have with this style of shoe. (And does it stop me buying them? Of COURSE not!) Other than that, I’m sure these will be good for many more dog walking outings and other casual days!

P.S. I’m not the only one who’s been saving shoes today: check out more Shoeper Saves in our forum, here!

Mellow Yellow polka dot ‘Lavande’ peep toes

polka dot shoes Mellow Yellow polka dot Lavande peep toes

Oh look, I’m showing you a pair of polka dot peep toes: how unusual!

Sarcasm aside, I feel I have to once again defend myself slightly by explaining again that polka dots are, like, SO HOT right now. Apparently I have to do that in the style of a teenage Valley girl too, for some reason. OK, I’ll stop.

No, really, though: polka dots are even more popular right now than they usually are at this time of year, and given that polka dots are almost ALWAYS popular at this time of year (Apparently I’m not the only person who thinks, “Oooh, Spring! Better get the polka dots out!” Then again, I think that in winter, too. And in Summer and Autumn, actually.), that’s a whole lot of polka dots. I LOVE it.

These ones are by Mellow Yellow, and are attached to a classic, bow-fronted, d’orsay cut peep toe with a wooden heel. They come in bright red and pale blue, and I’m seriously struggling to decide which one I like best: the red has that pin-up girl appeal to it, but then, the blue just screams Easter to me, and is just very fresh and appealing. Oh, I give up.

If you can choose between them – or if you want to just buy both – these are £109 at Sarenza. Click here to buy them.

Fornarina ‘Demy’ red and blue polka dot pumps with bow

Well, it looks like I’m going to have to start limiting my visits to the Spartoo website: their Spring/Summer collection is absolutely full of polka dots, and you all know how my shoeper powers fail me when faced with dots.

(Do you want to know how many polka dotted items I’ve bought this month? Actually, on second thoughts, let’s not even go there. And yes, some of them are shoes: I was just waiting for the Challenge to end so I could pounce on those polka dots, obviously…)

These shoes are by Fornarina, which is a brand I’ve never really paid much attention to until now. There’s a lot to like about these court shoes, though, from the bright blue platform and heel, to the spotted upper, and, of course, that little bow on the side, which is an interesting detail, and fairly unusual. I also like the fact that these have a closed toe: so many polka dot styles are peep toes, and while these do have a fabric upper, and therefore won’t be suitable for wet or muddy weather, they’ll be perfect for the cool, drier days of Spring.

    These are £124 at Spartoo.

Shoe Kryptonite: Gina’s amazing polka dot shoe collection for Spring/Summer 2012

“I’m going to try not to blog about polka dot shoes this week,” I told myself. “I know there are hundreds of them around right now, and I can’t seem to look at a shoe website without literally seeing spots, but I have to draw the line somewhere, or my blog will be completely taken over by the things.”

    Then I saw these:

“Well, maybe I’ll just write about this one pair,” I thought. “After all, they’re AMAZING, and they’re so Shoeperwoman: I don’t think anyone will blame me. I’ll just show this one pair.”

“And, OK, this OTHER pair. But that’s it! And, I mean, it’s not like I’m showing them, like, EIGHT PAIRS or something, all at the same time!”

OH GOD. SOMEONE MAKE IT STOP.

Seriously, I’m crying here, people. CRYING. And, of course, being Gina, these are all way out of my price range, which is probably a good thing, because I’ve already started entertaining a little daydream in which I build a second set of shoe shelves, and fill them with these shoes. Yes, all of them. (But especially the very first pair I showed you…)

It’s going to be a very expensive summer, readers.

If you think you can resist the temptation, these are all available at the Gina website.

Buffalo green polka dot platform sandals and red flats

There’s an obvious bit of Shoe Deja Vu going on here between these Buffalo sandals, and Miu Miu’s polka dot platforms from last summer: the bright green upper, the crossover front, the ankle strap and the platform. Nevertheless, they’re not identical: the Buffalo version adds a blue platform, and uses slimmer straps -there’s definitely no danger of them being mistaken for Miu Miu, but I’m rather taken with them all the same, as you can probably imagine. Well, green, polka dots, bright blue – it’s like they were made just to tempt me.

While we’re on the subject of polka dots, temptation, and Buffalo, here’s another pair from their summer collection which caught my eye:

Although I’m not a huge fan of flat shoes, I always like to have at least one red pair in stock at any given time, and I wear them until they fall apart, red being one of my shoe “neutrals”. These ones are super-cute, and will add a touch of fun to even a dull pair of jeans…or shorts, or whatever else you want to wear them with.

You can  view these, and the rest of the Buffalo collection, at Spartoo.

Black Polka Dot Tie Platform Court Shoes from Next

polka dot tie shoes next Black Polka Dot Tie Platform Court Shoes from Next

I seem to have inadvertently slipped into a polka dot theme today. I would apologise, but let’s face it, it’s not exactly a new development for me, is it?

Anyway, these shoes were just too cute not to show you, so here they are. They’re from Next, they’re £38, and they’re now on my wish list for summer, because I absolutely love the polka dot scarf tie and heel. Would I be able to do without the raffia platform? Probably, yes: they make them very much “summer only” shoes in the type of climate we have here, and really, I’d want to wear these all year round.

Still, at least they’re not too expensive, and I could see myself wearing them a lot during Spring/Summer, so they get the thumbs up from me. If they get the thumbs-up from you too, you can click here to buy them.

Lola Ramona ‘Lola’ poka dot low-heeled pumps

polka dot shoes1 Lola Ramona Lola poka dot low heeled pumps

I’m sticking to my New Year’s Shoeper Resolution, which was to show you more low-heeled or flat shoes, and today I’ve surprised myself by finding a pair I’d actually wear myself: wonders will never cease!

Of course, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t admit that I’d like these Lola Ramona court shoes even more if they came with a higher heel (in fact, not only would I like them, I’d probably buy them, let’s be honest), but I’m actually pretty keen on them the way they are, too. The heel is 2.75″, but it’s also very nicely shaped:

The print, however, is what really does it for me, here. I can never seem to resist using red accents with black and white polka prints, but these shoes have done it for me, making them practically perfect in every way, as Mary Poppins would say. Could I use a pair of low-heeled pumps, I wonder? On second thoughts, don’t tempt me…

    Polka dot shoes at ASOS

Oh dear. These probably aren’t what you were expecting when you read the title of thus post, are they? And, I mean, I LOVE the print – that goes without saying for me. But not even pretty polka dots can make me love the flatform: I’m sure these would be very comfortable on, (And it has to be said, they’re not nearly as bad as some I’ve seen: in fact, if I HAD to wear flatforms, these are probably the ones I’d choose.) but I’m also sure they’d make me look like some strange kind of stock figure, with boats for feet.

Let me show you something a little more me:

Now, if I could have this shape, but with the red print from the first pair, I’d be sold. Or rather, they would be – especially seeing as they’re only £22. Pretty please, ASOS?

    Buy them here and here.
