    Minna Parikka ‘Melt’ pumps

minna parrika melt Minna Parikka Melt pumps

Oh noes, my shoes are melting!

OK, they’re not. They just look like they are. And if you’d told me a couple of years ago, say, that one day I’d find myself admiring a pair of shoes designed to look like they were melting, I’d have shook my head and laughed. But actually, I think this is a really creative way of making a pair of black pumps look a little more interesting, and I’m really curious to see what they’d look like when worn. I have a vague fear that anyone with pink-toned skin might end up looking like it was their legs that were melting, rather than the shoes, but … somehow I still love them.

These are called ‘Melt’ they’re by Minna Parikka, and they’re £284 at Sarenza. What do you think of them?

Zara turquoise chunky platform peep toes

These shoes look more teal than “turquoise” on my screen, but both of those colours are equally acceptable to me, so here they are anyway, and if you do happen to buy a pair, be sure to let me know which colour they are “in real life!”

Although these are really very simple, they stand out for three reasons: the chunky shape, the bright colour, and the squared-off toe shape:

Now, square toes are my least favourite shape of all: I think they can give a shoe a very clumsy look, and I don’t know about you, but that’s not a look I tend to covert. I find them more acceptable on a peep toe than on a pump, though, and could probably live with these ones, if only because of the colour, and the satisfyingly chunky shape.

If you could live with them too, they’re £49.99 and you can click here to buy them from Zara.

ASOS PROP Leather Pointed Platform Court Shoes

Yes, it’s those pointed toes again! They’re pretty much inescapable right now, but these ones are attached to a very small platform, which makes them just a little bit different to some of their point-toed sisters. It wasn’t the platform or the toes which made me stop and take a second look at these, though – it was that lovely, duck-egg blue shade on the right. It’s always been a bit of a favourite of mine, but I don’t actually own any shoes in this particular shade, which is very remiss of me.

I’m not going to be owning these ones either, because they’re £60, and I think I’ve bought more than enough pairs of shoes this month already, but if you fancy buying a pair, in either this or the bright pink upper which is also available, you can click here to get them at ASOS.

Friday Fix: Christian Louboutin Disconoeud platform bow sandals

You weren’t very keen on the last pair of chunky heeled Louboutins I showed you, and I’m not sure these ones will fare much better, but I really like the little square bow, which is offset on the foot, creating a look that’s a little bit cheeky, somehow:

As for the bow, well, it’s thicker than the usual spindly stilettos we see attached to Louboutin’s creations, but that should, at least, make these a little more suitable for a night of dancing, which is what they look they were intended for. Add in a chunky platform to offset the height of the 4″ heel, and you have a dress sandal which should be more comfortable than it looks – although that’s possibly not saying much!

These are $995: click here to buy them at Barney’s.

Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Amber’ yellow suede platform sandals

When I first came across these shoes, I thought ‘Amber’ was the name of the style, and I got really excited thinking that, hey, Giuseppe Zanotti had named a shoe after me, so I’d just HAVE to buy it. Well, it would be the very least I could do, wouldn’t it?

Sadly, ‘Amber’ is just the name of the colour, not of the shoe itself, so I have no such excuse. I do still love the shoes, though: I have two pairs in this colour now, and find it surprisingly versatile, as well as being very eye-catching, and the shape is rather stunning too, with its skyscraper heel and crossover vamp.

“Amber” definitely gets the Amber seal of approval, then, and if you’d like to give her YOUR seal of approval too, you can click here to buy her. And I’ll stop speaking about the shoe as if it’s a person now…

Miss Selfridge ‘Saffi’ black platform pumps with bow

Plain black shoes are often accused of being boring, but I have to beg to differ. Not only is a great pair of plain black pumps one of those “wardrobe staples” magazines are always banging on about, if the shape is right, they can still have a lot of impact, despite the so-called “dull” upper.

These Miss Selfridge “Saffi” platforms definitely grabbed my attention when they arrived on the site last week. I really like the little bow on the side, which makes a simple style just a little more interesting, but to be perfectly honest, I’d probably have liked these even without it. Sometimes a simple back pump is exactly what a Shoeperhero needs, after all.

    Two quick points:

    1. I’ll be singing Lady Gaga’s ‘Alejandro’ aaaaallll day now.

    2. Tan and gold might just be my new favourite combination. I mean, there’s absolutely nothing really different or unusual about these shoes – they’re your classic platform pumps – and yet I could look at them all day, too. While singing ‘Alejandro’, obviously.

These are £336 at Louisa Via Roma: click here to buy them.

Miss Selfridge ‘Harper’ pink fan sandals

miss selfridge harper Miss Selfridge Harper pink fan sandalsI’ve talked a lot about pink and gold this week, but pink and silver is another combination that’s guaranteed to get me drooling right now, and these ‘Harper’ sandals from Miss Selfridge are a really good example.

This very pale, blush pink is such a great shade to wear with metallics, and creates a very pretty, soft look, which manages to be feminine without being overly “girlie” – or straying too far into “Barbie” territory. I’d love a pair of these for summer: the fan shape on the heel and the strappy upper gives them an almost vintage look which will be perfect with floating chiffon dresses and skirts!
