Purple floral print platform peep toes from River Island

floral print shoes Purple floral print platform peep toes from River IslandYou just can’t avoid floral print as this time of year, so you may as well embrace it, as far as I’m concerned. These floral peep toes are from River Island, and are anything but demure, what with that 6″ heel and giant platform: skyscrapers, indeed!

I really like the purple background on these shoes: it’s fresh, and a little different, and it works perfectly with the red and white flowers.

These are £59.99: click here to buy them.

VIDEO: Carvela ‘Assess’ platforms from Sarenza

Remember the Carvela ‘Assess’ shoes you all chose for me to receive from my Fairy Shoemothers at Sarenza?

Well, the shoes actually arrived last week, but I wanted to give you more than a couple of quick photos of them, so here, courtesy of Shoeperman, is a quick video to show you the shoes:

So, as you can see, these are pretty eye-catching, with their bright, suede uppers and colourblock design, which combines purple, pink and gold. They have a three-buckle Mary Jane strap, and although the heel is very high, at 14cm, the combination of the similarly high platform and secure ankle strap means that they’re much easier to walk in than you’d possibly expect.

I ordered my usual size, which fits perfectly, so I’m very happy with them.

Thanks again to Sarenza for allowing me to be part of their brand ambassador programme, and have the opportunity to try out these wonderful shoes! If you’d like to buy a pair yourself, meanwhile, you can click here to do it.

For me, these shoes fall firmly into the “look but don’t touch” category: I can’t seem to stop looking at them spin round (and round and round) on the Saks website, but I don’t really want them anywhere near my feet, because they’re giving off an “Austin Powers” vibe that’s just too strong for my liking. Oh, and the £600 price tag is a bit strong for my liking too.

These definitely aren’t your average Mary Janes, though, and if you think you can make them work, they could make a really interesting addition to the ol’ shoe closet. I’d be tempted to carry on the 60s theme, and wear them with a little white mini dress: what would you wear with them?

Pink ‘Polyanna’ cut-out wedges with t-bar and bow from Moda in Pelle

polyanna cut out bow wedges Pink Polyanna cut out wedges with t bar and bow from Moda in Pelle

I’ve described these shoes as “cut out wedges”, purely because Moda in Pelle did, and, well, it’s their shoe, so they get to call it whatever they like. Really, though, it’s just a very chunky heel, with a very thick platform, creating that almost-wedge-but-not-quite shape. I’d be interested to know if these are as comfortable to walk in as wedges tend to be, though: that would be another point in their favour, if so.

The very chunky shape of these shoes is very much of the moment: we’ll be seeing a lot more of this kind of shape this summer, but I think Moda in Pelle have done a particularly good job here, with the bow and t-bar helping make these shoes stand out.

These are £89.95 and are also available with a snake-print upper. Click here to buy them.

purple platform court shoes Purple platform court shoes from River IslandAnother item from my (substantial) River Island wish list! These purple suede court shoes are a classic shape, but the bright colour means they still pack a bit of a punch, and will be the perfect accessory for black dresses, blue jeans or anything else that needs a little touch of colour to liven it up.

Stunning in their simplicity, these are £64.99: click here to buy them.

Carvela yellow suede ‘Assess platform Mary Janes

carvela yellow suede shoes Carvela yellow suede Assess platform Mary JanesYellow has been a popular colour this winter, and I for one am glad to see it sticking around for the Spring season, too: it’s such a bright, cheerful shade, and a little more unexpected than the usual reds, greens and blues I tend to go for when I want to inject a bit of colour into an outfit.

Yellow can be hard to wear, though, which is why I like these ‘Assess’ platforms by Carvela, which come in a nice, mustard shade, which isn’t too hard on the eye. The colour is broken up by the think gold strip around the platform, and there’s also a three-buckle Mary Jane strap.

If you don’t share my love of yellow, however, these are also available in purple:

Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin Bibi Suede Platform Pumps

christian louboutin bibi platforms Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin Bibi Suede Platform PumpsThese shoes are about as close to “sensible” as it gets for Christian Louboutin. Sure, they have a 4″ heel, but it’s chunkier than the usual spindly stilettos, and with a 1″ platform to balance it out, why, these should feel downright LOW, compared to some of the great man’s other designs!

Well, OK, maybe not: they are a great colour for winter, though, and they’re also available in black and brown, making them one of the more wearable shoes in the current Louboutin collection.

Want to buy a pair? They’re $526 and you can click here to order from Saks.

Blue suede ‘Angelica’ platform shoes from Carvela

blue suede shoes carvela Blue suede Angelica platform shoes from Carvela

I paid a visit to Kurt Geiger last weekend, much to Shoeperman’s consternation . Sadly for me, I left bare-footed (not literally, you understand: I still had the shoes I was wearing when I arrived, I just didn’t have any extra ones), but it wasn’t for lack of choice: in fact, if anything, there were just far too many wonderful shoes there for me to possibly choose between them, and if it hadn’t been the middle of the month at the time, I wouldn’t have had the will to resist them.

Strangely enough, one of the pairs of shoes I spent most time stroking were these blue platforms by Carvela. Now, I’d seen these on the Kurt Geiger website, but hadn’t written about them here, thinking the platform was just too high for its own good, and, in fact, was rapidly approaching “stripper shoe” territory. In real life, however, all I could think was that these shoes are fabulous. Sure, they’re high, they’re loud and they’re impossible to ignore, but I think those are all points in their favour and I was surprised by how much I liked these.

Bets worn with something simple to give them the chance to shine, these are £140 at Kurt Geiger: click here to order!
