I love them, but do you? Get them for £455 at Far Fetch, if you do. Thursday, March 11th, 2010Timeless strappy bow sandals at Dorothy PerkinsDorothy Perkins have just started stocking some styles by shoe brand ‘Timeless’, so the first thing to note about these shoes is that they’re ‘timeless’ by name, not necessarily by nature. As it happens, I don’t think these shoes are particularly timeless-by-nature. At first glance I was instantly seduced by the bow on the front, which is certainly cute enough, but underneath that I’m seeing something I think of as a “clubbing shoe” – especially in the metallic purple version, seen in the middle of this photo. Clubbing isn’t something I do a whole lot of these days, so shoes like this don’t hold a whole lot of appeal for me. If they appeal to you, though, they’re £55 and you can buy them here. Some other things about these shoes that make me smile: 1. The price – they’re only £45. 2. The fact that they come in two of my favourite shoe-colours: nude and red. 3. The cute little double platform. 4. The fact that, as nice as they look in the image above, they look even nicer on. Take a look under the jump if you don’t believe me: Tags: ASOS, peeptoe, platform, slingback

I’m in two minds about these shoes. In the black and cream versions, I think the gathered toe makes the shoe look like it’s been wrapped up in some kind of protective dust-cover, which the owner hasn’t bothered to remove before wearing them. The red version, however… well, the red version I rather like, and I somehow think it works a little better. What do you think? These are £450 from Gina. Tags: gina, platform, satin

Well, you were right, I do. They come in four different colours, but for reasons I can’t even begin to explain, I’m going through a bit of a “pink” phase at the moment (this is strange to me, because I’ve never really been a “pink” girl), so these are the two that appeal most to me. My favourites are the pair on the right, which are just really fresh, and fun and spring-link, and not quite as “River Island Barbie” as the pair on the left, which also have the dreaded metal heel. I think I spy a stripey insole, too: that makes me happy. These are £59.99. Get them here. Monday, March 8th, 2010Miu Miu green patent platform slingbacksI allowed myself to look at Yoox.com again. I really shouldn’t have, because within a few minutes I’d stumbled upon these Miu Miu beauties, which are in my favourite colour, my favourite shape (well, one of them, anyway), and which aren’t TOO horrendously expensive at their sale price of £235. Naturally, then, this means they’re only available in a UK size 6. Damn you, Yoox.com for raising my hopes, although I guess my bank manager (and Shoeperman) would probably want to thank you, too, for keeping temptation safely out of reach on this occasion. If you are a lucky size 7, and have £235 you’ve been wondering what to do with, you can buy these here: all I ask is that you think of me sometimes when you wear them… Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010Faith’s pink satin ‘Lorna’ platform sandals
These are also available in grey, with a black platform, but I think this pale pink is the nicer of the two colours. If you want to see for yourself, they’re £65 from Faith. Friday, February 26th, 2010Faux suede purple peep toes from Pin Up Girl ClothingThe Pin-Up Girl Clothing website is a very dangerous place for me to be, and for that reason I try to limit my visits there to once a month a most, otherwise I’d end up bankrupt. I don’t think I’ve ever visited the site without finding something new and wonderful to lust after, and today it was these faux-suede purple peep toes, which are a total bargain at $42 (although I know to my cost that if you’re outside the US, you’ll have to pay a customs charge on top of that). These are also available in an equally gorgeous grey, but they have very limited quantities available, so if you want a pair, you know what to do… Thursday, February 25th, 2010ASOS blue suede platform ‘Primavera’ shoesOh, great: I’m going to have Elvis in my head ALL afternoon now! And granted, these aren’t quite the kind of “blue suede shoes” he was talking about, but if they were mine, I wouldn’t want anyone to step on them either. I love everything about these shoes: the colour is the obvious attraction (and hey, I don’t believe I currently own a pair of shoes in this particular shade of blue!), but the shape is also a draw for me, because although the platform is large, the heel has a slight curve to it, and the toe is fairly pointed, making these look a little less clumpy than many other platform designs. These are also available in black, and if I didn’t already own more than enough pairs of black shoes already, I’d be coveting those, too. As it is, I’ll stick to the blue pair, which are £65 at ASOS. P.S. I added a Google Friend Connect widget to the sidebar (over on the right). It’s the same thing as Blogger’s followers widget, so feel free to follow me, and make me feel a little less alone! Posted in High Heels, High Street Shoes, Pumps/Court Shoes | 2 Comments » Wednesday, February 24th, 2010Pewter crossover ‘Tia’ sandals from FaithUp until a few years ago, it used to be the case that most evening shoes were delicate, strappy creations, that could barely be seen on the foot. Those styles still have their place, of course (they’re fantastic if you’re wearing a statement dress, and don’t want to detract attention from it with your shoes), but they do start to blend into one another after a while, so I’ve started to lean towards chunkier shoes, like these ones from Faith, when it comes to evening wear. Although these will cover quite a bit of the foot, they’re still very glamorous: for some reason I keep picturing them worn with a white, Marilyn Monroe-style halter-neckdress, but the pewter colour will work with almost anything, and although they’re great to look at in their own right, they won’t steal too much attention away from whatever else you’re wearing, either. These are £60, and you can buy them at Faith.
