ASOS PUNTY Suede Cork Platform Court Shoe

asos punty pumps ASOS PUNTY Suede Cork Platform Court Shoe

Punty. For some reason, this word fascinated me, so while I’m sure ASOS.com probably intended it to be simply a fun shoe name (Kinda like the way Faith are always calling their shoes ‘Blippy’ or ‘Booby’ or somesuch) I decided to look it up on Urban Dictionary, which defines a “punty” as:

“A person who is short, and tries to make up for it by acting extremely angry and aggressive towards taller people.  You will often times hear a punty person talking about how bad it sucks to be short.”

So, now you know! You’ll definitely be a little less short in these shoes, because they have a 5.2″ heel and 1.3″ platform so that’s one thing sorted. As for being aggressive towards taller people, well, that would be very naughty, so don’t do it, OK?

And now, every time I look at these shoes, I will imagine them walking up to a taller pair of shoes (yes, I know it’s hard to imagine a taller pair of shoes) and getting all aggressive. I love a shoe with personality!

These are £40. Get them here.

Nicholas Kirkwood pink lizard lace-up sandals

I’m used to greeting almost everything Nicholas Kirkwood does with absolute glee, but these… these are different, aren’t they? And they’re clever. They’re interesting. They’re artistic. They’re… well, they’re really PINK, aren’t  they?

These shoes are all of those things, but are they something you’d want to buy and wear? I’m on the fence on this one, so I’ll leave it up to you to decide. If your answer is in the affirmative, you’ll find them at Louisa Via Roma, where they’re £697.50.

New shoes! Bright pink t-bars from Dorothy Perkins

pink t bar shoes New shoes! Bright pink t bars from Dorothy Perkins

£10 in the Dorothy Perkins’ sale. Well, I could hardly have left them there, could I?

These shoes are actually a UK size 5, and I normally wear a 4, but one thing years of shoe-hunting has taught me is that when you spot a shoe you love on the sale rack, you grab it first, and you ask questions later. That’s exactly what I did with these, and when it came time to ask questions (the question, of course, being “will they fit me?”), I was pleased to find that the answer was a resounding “yes!”. These actually fit me perfectly, which is rather strange, especially when you consider that the final pair of new shoes I have to show you this week (more on those tomorrow) are also from Dorothy Perkins, but are a size 4.

Anyway, the shoe fit, Cinderella DID go to the ball, and all was well with the world. Well, sort of: I was having a bit of a depressing day on Saturday and I’m not going to say these shoes made everything seem that little bit better, but… actually, no I AM going to say that. Whaddya know, new shoes really DO cure the blues. Especially when they’re bright pink.

Office Betsey Bow pink polka dot court shoes

office betsey bow shoes Office Betsey Bow pink polka dot court shoes

Pink! Polka dots! Bows! It would be hard to imagine a more unashamedly “girlie” shoe than these Betsey Bow shoes, by Office, which are clearly designed to allow us to fully indulge in sugary-sweet shoey goodness. Or badness, as the case may be: we all know too much sugar is bad for us, and these will be way too sweet to be wholesome for some of you. (And for me, too, if I’m completely honest.)

For those who just squeed in delight at the very sight of them, however, take a look here: they’re £60, and are also available in a rose print.

Pink and silver contrast court sandals from New Look

This is another shoe shape that’s proved popular over the past year or so. I really like the pink and silver colour mix on these, and I’m starting to love the shape too. This is another case of “I’d have to see them in person”, though, because this image does make the materials look a little cheap – perhaps unsurprisingly, given that they only cost £20!

Elizabeth and James suede ‘Mason’ pumps

I’ve seen these shoes on so many different retail websites now I figured it was probably a sign that I should write about them. Now that I have, I’m not quite sure what took me so long: the colours alone are enough to draw me to these! I particularly like the turquoise, but the pink and yellow shades also provide a nice antidote to the gloomy weather, and make me think of all of the pretty summer dresses they could be worn with.

If you can’t wait until the warmer weather comes along, though, these will also work with jeans, trousers or bring a splash of colour to winter pieces, too. They’re £354 at Zappos.

New shoes! Pink satin Dune platforms

It occurred to me yesterday that I’d totally forgotten to show you all the new shoes I bought just before Christmas, so here they are!

pink platfom shoes New shoes! Pink satin Dune platforms

And yes, I KNOW. They’re bright pink. (Although not nearly as shiny as they look in these photos: the lack of daylight here in the winter meant they were impossible to photograph without a flash, and the flash adds a lot of shine.) They’re satin. They have a gigantic platform. They’re not exactly the most versatile shoes in the Shoeper closet. But they were on sale for £25 (They’re made by Dune, but I found them in TK Maxx, which has been a source of many a pair of shoes for me. If you’re in the US, you know it better as TJ Maxx.) and somehow I just couldn’t leave them behind.

“You know,” said Shoeperman, when he met me at the tills, “I walked past those shoes, looked at them and thought, ‘Amber’s going to want those.’” And it looks like he was right. Sometimes there’s just a giant, pink-satin platform shaped hole in your closet, isn’t there? Not any more, readers. Not any more…

Carvela ‘Gemini’ platform sole shoes

carvela gemini shoes Carvela Gemini platform sole shoes

Lordy! If 2009 was the year of the big platform, it’s starting to look like 2010 will be the year of the, er, even bigger platform. I’m not adverse to platforms (in fact, I’ve become so accustomed to seeing them now that shoes that DON’T have some kind of built-up sole have started to look almost “naked” to me, somehow), but when they get to the size of the platforms on these Carvela shoes, I think they start to look odd, and become very difficult to wear. I used the term “stripper shoes” yesterday, and while these lack the perspex soles, I think, once again, a really lovely shoe has been just a little bit spoiled by the monstrous platform.

What do you think? If you disagree, these are £100 at Kurt Geiger.
