Shoe Deja Vu: Charles by Charles David ‘Delightful’ Vs Carvela ‘Kuchina’

I might have rather liked Charles by Charles David’s ‘Delightful’ wedges – in fact, I might even have found them delightful … until, that is, I noticed their resemblance to Carvela’s Kuchina, from last summer.

As usual with these Shoe Deja Vus, it’s the idea of the shoe that’s similar, rather than the execution: the Charles David shoes have a cork wedge rather than a leather one, a full heel rather than a slingback, and pink trim rather than gold. It’s all of these details, however, which, when seen side-by-side with their older sisters, makes the Carvela shoes look so much better to me, and as there’s not a huge difference in the price (the Charles David shoes are $174.99 at Heels.com, while the Carvelas are down to £120 (about $189) at Sarenza), those are the ones I’d probably go for.

Shoeperheroes or Shoepervillains: Brian Raffia-Heel Colorblock d’Orsay Sandals

brian atwood coourblock shoes Shoeperheroes or Shoepervillains: Brian Raffia Heel Colorblock dOrsay Sandals

Now, you all know Brian Atwood is a shoeperhero of mine. And you may also know that I can be partial to a bit of raffia on a shoe – it reminds me of summer, and really, anything that reminds me of summer gets the thumbs up from me right now. Almost anything, that is.

These shoes, though? These shoes make me want to get the scissors out and give ‘em a haircut. And trust me, I’m really, really bad at haircuts.

I don’t want to just dismiss them out of hand, though, so I’m placing the decision in your hands, shoeper readers. Are these shoes Shoeperheroes or Shoepervillains? Tell me!

Pink asymmetric peep toes from Zara

pink zara asymetric peep toes Pink asymmetric peep toes from Zara

Anytime I see the word “asymmetric” on the Zara website, I get my hopes up that they’ve re-released those amazing pumps which sold out last year. Alas, I don’t think that will ever happen, but in the meantime we have these pink asymmetric peep toes to enjoy. These aren’t the same, of course, other than in the shape of the sides, but they are a lot of fun, and if you happen to have a hot pink hole in your shoe collection, £29.99 will allow you to fill it with these.

Click here to buy them: and, actually, if you could all join with me in wishing really hard that they one day re-release my dream shoes, that would be awesome…

Mulberry pink patent pointed toe pumps

These look like toy shoes, don’t they?

I’m not sure if they’ve just used a very small size for the photograph, or whether it’s the pink colour of the upper, but the resemblance to Barbie’s shoes is almost uncanny, no?

That said, I think these are absolutely adorable: I just don’t think they look real. They most definitely are, though, and at £250, they’re probably out of Barbie’s price range. (You know, given that she’s a doll…) If they’re not out of yours, and you can bear the thought of people asking when Ken’s coming round to pick you up for your date, you can click here to buy them at Louisa Via Roma.

KG Ettie Pink Platform Peep Toe Court Shoes

These shoes are super-simple, but I make no apologies for showing them to you anyway, because they’re also super-sexy: I mean, just look at that shape! And the heel!

They’re the kind of shoes I can imagine just throwing on with a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt, and feeling fantastic in, and…I should probably stop now, before I convince myself that I need to buy them and do that. After all, the last thing I need right now is ANOTHER pair of shoes… isn’t it?

These are by Kurt Geiger: click here to buy them at ASOS, where they’re £130.

Boutique 9 Malia Suede Espadrille-Platform Peep Toe Pumps

Earlier this year, I showed you Boutique 9′s ‘Alesandra’ pumps, which had a similar shape to these ones, but a more winter-appropriate upper, in black, red and leopard.

Now I want you to meet Alesandra’s summery sister, ‘Malia’, whose shown above in a baby-pink suede upper, and is also available in cream. I say “summery” – these also have a woven, espadrille-style sole, which makes them a warm (or at least dry) weather only choice for me – particularly in the cream upper, which I would no doubt have ruined in about five seconds flat!

I absolutely adore the shape of these shoes, and while the pink colour isn’t really my style, I don’t think it will struggle to find fans, somehow.

These are by Boutique 9, they’re £87.82, and you can click here to buy them from Saks.

Studio TMLS pink ‘Eleanor’ bow peep toes

If “girlie” is your middle name, then:

a) Wow, that’s an unusual middle name!

b) You’re probably going to love Studio TMLS’s ‘Eleanor’ shoes, which are as pink and bow-bedecked as you could possibly wish.

As for me, I was all set to dislike me, because as much as I like a good bow or two, three bows is starting to push it a little, and at first glance I thought they were too saccharine for their own good. The more I look at them, though, the more I start to be charmed by them: the basic shape of the shoe is actually really beautiful (look at the curve of that heel!), and I’m tempted to think that if you were to downplay the sweetness (i.e. avoid wearing them with anything pink or frilly), they could be perfect. At first I thought of a simple “jeans and top” outfit, but a neutral dress could also work – and now I’m almost completely won over. It’s funny how that happens sometimes, isn’t it?

These are £97, are also available in black, and you can buy them at Sarenza. What do you think of them?

Badgley Mischka pink ‘Babette’ sandals

Part of me thinks these shoes are really only suitable for bridesmaids. Another part of me, however, thinks, “Why should bridemaids get all the fun? And all the pretty shoes? You could easily throw these on with a little black dress, say, and no one need even mention the word “bridal”.” With that sorted out, then, I’ll just add that these are just as pretty in all of the other colours they’re available in, which include black, white, dark grey, and this “platinum” colour:
